Alcoa Employee Review

Respectful team environment but nothing ever gets done

People are kind and respectful here but there is a lack of competence in leadership and strategic direction which has eroded company value and prevented Alcoa from growing as a company.

Work life balance if your on shift work

Pays well for local employment Upper management rarely listen to employees, its all about production. Great stepping stone if you want to progress to other mining companies

Pros

Days off, pay well if performing shift work

Cons

Hard to progress, sometimes held back if your a good worker

Trade area gave opportunity to build up skills in the instrument and electrical fields

I started as a single trade instrument tech. When the electrical and instrument trades combined the company gave the opportunity to train in a apprenticeship in the electrical trade. This opened an opportunity to be trained and train electricians in instrumentation.

Pros

Training opportunities

Cons

Work life balance not good
