High workload and stressful work environment, very tiring compared to other supermarkets I have worked at. I found other store assistants and staff to be very friendly and welcoming however some managers where a pain to work with and had unrealistic expectations

Bit of a joke.

Store Assistant (Former Employee) - Hunter Valley NSW - 26 September 2023

They expect you to do 5 peoples jobs at once. You’ll be halfway through stocking shelves and be called to the registers over and over. Youre supposed to have every second weekend off but half the time you’re asked to work, I didn’t complain it was extra money but the more you said yes, the more they asked & they would make you feel so bad if you didn’t accept the offer to work and wouldn’t even pay me for it. It’s a great place to shop but a bad company to work for. They don’t care about their workers. I wouldn’t recommend working there. If it was the last job on earth I’d rather be poor.

productive and fun work place. Days at work are fun. Learned and gain a lot of experience. Hardest part of the job is lifting weights in a timely manner

I am very happy to work at ALDI. My colleagues treat me well and the working environment is comfortable.I also learned a lot about selling from them. However, the fixed work schedule from morning to night made me feel very tired.

Can be a fun and collaborative place to work

Can be good, depending on the store manager/ASM which can change quite regularly. Fair pay for the work you’re doing.Very accommodating to people like uni students, mothers, etc.

The work is physaclly intensive as you will be timed constantly. However, the employees are compansated well with competitive salaries and other benifits. Also, the training is great

Expect to hurt yourself

Expectations of the work required are rediculous. Doesn’t matter if you are a 18 year old gym junkie or a mother in your 50s you’re expected to do the same amount of work in the same time. You cannot help each other.

I worked at aldi for 3 months and it was the worst 3 months of my life. the company sets out unrealistic time frames which has you running around the store until your exhausted and if you don’t meet these time frames you get in trouble. no work life balance especially if your a manager, you never get out on time. the company is extremely strict. I don’t recommend this job to anyone.

Fast paced but no work life balance.

Pros: fast paced, active job. Only work every second weekend. Cons: no work life balance. Shifts are all over the place and never the same each week which makes planning your life around work hard. If you cop abuse from customers the manager will always side with them and reward them, making you look like the idiot. The company is far too concerned about the customer, making employees do really childish training on how to interact with customers and put them on a pedestal despite abusive behaviour. I had asked many times for my contracted hours to be increased to cope with the cost of living crisis, only for it to be denied and the company hiring more people instead. You are constantly contacted outside of your work hours via an app.

The experience was good get a hands on in the retail industry but the way the company is managing the staff, it is going backwards.

Extreme Physical demand

Very minimal staff rostered. Everything is being timed, from register for fast scanning to stacking shelves. Can be very physical that make you sick. Good pay for student age over 18 work as store assistant, no work life balance.

Aldis is good and easy work but for long term and stability this isn’t the place for you, they’ll get rid of you after a month or two and it’ll come out of nowhere, it’s normal for it to happen according to past employees and permanents

Company going downhill

Used to be a great company to work for however expectation got more and more unreasonable over the years. Company comes first and people after. If you are young and single you might enjoy it for while but if you have a family it is impossible.

Most days are pretty cruisy, but some other days can be stressful depending on how big that day's load run is & what special sales are on. Other than that it's all good.
