Only do it if you have no choice
INBOUND & OUTBOUND (Former Employee) - Ravenhall VIC - 2 January 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedYou mainly just scan items that customers buy into shelves. sometimes it gets annoying when there's too many items because you are recorded on how many items you scan and you can only put as many as you can display for pickers. outbound is alright because there's constantly things to store and get ready for trucks.
Pros
set hours
Cons
long hours, unfulfilling work

Stay away if you're a hard worker
Forklift Operator (Current Employee) - Ravenhall VIC - 16 July 2023
Amazon is more a "social experiment" than a workplace. It is a "bludgers paradise" where lazy workers never get pulled up for it, and hard workers never appreciated or respected. Everybody gets a participation award regardless if they actually work or not. The racial favouritism there is next level. It's a bunch of kids running the place with no experience, masquerading as proffesionals who cannot handle when a worker with more experience than them calls them out on their inability to perform their role.
Pros
They never ask you to work harder
Cons
Read comments above. Too many to list

toxic workplace & management
Facilities Coordinator (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 8 March 2023
have never worked at a company so incredibly toxic, management was cruel and added extra responsibility to job with no additional pay constantly. refused to hire additional staff instead just forwarded on the work to the rest of the team.

A one-stop career shop where you get to build and achieve greatness, all alongside the world's most talented people.
Recruitment Manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 20 December 2022
You have limitless career opportunities across roles, teams, entities, countries etc. You are empowered to innovate, build and take risks - all with very deep pockets - to solve problems for your customers. Everyone lives and breathes the Leadership Principles and has a huge focus on DEI. If you don't like ambiguous or ever-changing environments, Amazon isn't right for you.
Pros
Limitless career opportunities, empowered to innovate with deep pockets, solve problems for your customers, live and breathe the Leadership Principles, have a huge focus on DEI.
Cons
If you don't like ambiguous or ever-changing environments, Amazon isn't right for you.

Long hours
Pick (Former Employee) - Dandenong VIC - 6 October 2022
Long hours at work, as you are on your feet's 10 hours a day. By the end of the shift my feet's would be so sore. People are very friendly there. The hardest part of the job was making sure to stay on your feets.
Pros
The pay
Cons
Long hours

Brutal, fair and rewarding
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Australia - 15 August 2022
I needed a big push when I started as a L1 employee, promoted twice and now they're in talks of another promotion. It is a hard job, but management is nothing short of amazing, they want to develop and push you to new personal bests.

Good job
Customer Service Agent (Former Employee) - Wembley Square 2 - 17 July 2022
Nice money however you need to be mentally tough because it comes with endurance. A fast paced, quick on toes environment. It's a fair place however your salary is a clear indicator of the workload.
Pros
Good salary. Great culture. Free popcorn and fruit. Free medical aid
Cons
Tough shifts

Depends on the teams, emphasis on performance and metrics
Architect (Current Employee) - Australia - 11 May 2022
My observation being in Proserve (professional services arm of AWS) , technical and domain specialist needs to be good at selling, negotiation, building trust with customers. Very limited time for deep, focused, technical work. A lot of calls like usual consulting role. Feel like a freelancer/entrepreneur, need to market own skills and work well to survive. Hard to find support within the team as everyone is in many projects and different projects. Uncoordinated, lack of structure. Emphasis of sales numbers, deals closed, customer satisfaction score, hours billed. Pressure to perform even through client pipeline is not within control. Great for people who likes to talk to customers, sell Amazon style of innovation. Not good for people who wants focused work - building, engineering, creating. People move in and out the team quickly. High transfer and turnover.
Pros
Grow your networking and communication skills, autonomy, work from home, interesting client work if there is pipeline, good for people who want to explore freelancing/entrepreneur, Good pay
Cons
Pressure to deliver, high attrition, ambiguity

Stressful experience with no room for personal evolvement
Associate (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 22 November 2021
It was a biased work environment where groups and circles are formed there. The good is the continuing work because of the demand during covid 19 tough times .
Pros

CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - MOA - 17 April 2021
Amazon is a good company in terms of salary benefits and working place. There are team leaders that are good motivators others are not but then its your decidion or how you will manage. High standard when it comes to safety and employees privileges. No 2 way fliw on the building, one way flow and just 2 persons on the elevator. Verygood equipments fast , no problem on the system, fast training all virtual.
Pros
Free meals on fridays and a week free lunch on special holidaysof Amazon
Cons
Needs to hit good surveys everyday

Process Worker (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 9 July 2020
it felt like you have 2 different team in one department, the permanent staff and the casual staff.
sometimes, the instruction given were not clear and KPi keep changing on daily basis.
The storage are too pack with item and there not enough space when most of the item are not stored properly.
