Bad workplace culture
Hospitality Services (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 30 May 2023
Poor management and terrible workplace culture. The hardest part of the job was trying to deal with the highly unprofessional environment. The most enjoyable part was the end of shift.

Toxic unprofessional environment
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Booragul NSW - 16 May 2023
As a nurse I would never risk my registration going back to Anglican Care. I would not recommend anyone working there. People who work there are usually not fully qualified and have been given positions based on who they know not what they know. Toxic environment which is encouraged by management and no adequate professional development or career furthering opportunities. Sorry... but a big no and avoid. Resident clients nor staff are forefront of Anglican Cares mind.
Pros
Catering provided at meetings
Cons
Bullying, toxic environment, substandard conditions

Management was lacking
Service Assistant (Former Employee) - Boolaroo NSW - 18 March 2023
It started out great, then I started to see the cracks in management. If you didn't perform or be fully available management would be so hard on you! If you went to a higher person they would make out that it was no big deal. The money you get wasn't worth it!
Pros
Working with the elderly
Cons
Management wasn't supportive

Underpaid and understaffed
Hospitality (Current Employee) - Warnervale NSW - 12 February 2023
Most of the staff is friendly. Understaffed. Residents can be trying but are lovely people. Management thinks of you as just a number who is easily replaced. Pay is poor.
Pros
Interesting residents
Cons
Poor pay

Stressful and unappreciated
Hotel Services (Former Employee) - Toronto NSW - 1 April 2022
Top managers look down their nose at front-line workers. They have unrealistic expectations of what work can be achieved in a given time frame. Money, money, money that's all that matters. Unfortunately residents and workers are secondary.

Overstressed over worked
Aged Care Worker (Former Employee) - Jesmond - 8 February 2022
No support given to cert 3 workers from staff that are higher up. Work short staffed quite a lot on dementia units, heavy work load. Management not willing to listen to what staff have to say.

Staff are good pay conditions are disgraceful.
Kitchen Hand/Cook (Former Employee) - Mirrabooka place - 23 November 2021
For the amount of work your expected to do in one day the pay rate is a joke we have just had a payrise to 22.76 per hour . Support a famil on that.
Pros
Putting a smile on residents faces
Cons
Slack pay

A very large organisation easy to get lost in.
Home Care Worker (Current Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 23 January 2018
A typical day are eight hour shifts, education is an essential part the of the position, work independently through out the day, the hardest part of the position is clients passing on, Being a part of my clients lives helping the elderly live an independent life for as long as possible in the security of there own homes and bringing a smile to there faces.

I enjoyed working there and I miss it very much
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 11 November 2017
I enjoyed working there and I miss it very much. I miss the residents and I miss the workplace. I think that NSW does a far better job paying and looking after their employees and in turn residents than has been my experience in Victoria thus far. The salary packaging is excellent and does not seem to be available in Victoria. If I were offered a full time job in Activities in Anglican care I would probably move back in a heartbeat.
Pros
It really is an awesome place to work for
Cons
I suppose there are some but I could deal with it. There are issues with every employer.

Staff get together for social functions
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 9 November 2016
My day starts with getting residents out bed and prepare them for the day ahead. Serve breakfast to them, making sure that everyone is enjoying breakfast and give assistance to those who cannot feed themselves. Then assistance with morning tea, making sure the residents are all comfortable in their particular chairs. Lunch time is next doing the same as breakfast. Toileting which we do frequently during the day as well.
Basically that describes my morning shift.
Pros
Do have B.B.Q 'at different times
Cons
N/a

overall a more and more demanding industry
Hotel Services Co Ordinator / Team leader (Former Employee) - Toronto, NSW - 12 April 2015
very challenging industry, must be able to handle and time manage everyday issues, rewards are seeing the smiles on the residents faces when you provide them with a special out of the ordinary service.
