Good people and benefits, very hierarchical
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 6 April 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedSenior Management says one thing but acts another - preaches that they are all about the people but really are not. Rest of the team are great and free gym helps

Productive and Engaging
Assitant Manager (Current Employee) - Australia - 24 July 2023
Nice place to work. Relaxed job for someone to start their careers in a sales position plus boost your customer service skills. The best part of the job is you get free memberships

Russian Roulette - I wouldn't risk it
Club Manager (Former Employee) - Brisbane Northside QLD - 29 June 2023
There is a reason that so many Club Managers roles come up. I was unfortunate enough to get the WORST franchised owners possible. Not clue about fitness, as they don't train AT ALL, worst salary ever (10c above the award which they aren't even paying from the correct level) Other local Anytime Fitness in the area are paying 10-15k more then these "people" Constantly spying on your on the cameras ,Wont spend money on cleaners or equipment because "its not relevant" despite complaints from members, don't train you but expect you to know everything and wont spend money on anything prevalent to the gym. The members are what kept me as they made everyday fun. This gym as a whole is great but the owners are greedy money grabbers who aren't about there members at all
Pros
The members and the free gym membership
Cons
The Owners and the expectations for the poor salary you are paid

Amazing Company
General Manager (Current Employee) - Hyde Park NSW - 15 May 2023
I have been with Anytime Fitness now for 14 years and because it is a global company I have been able to manage clubs in Australia, New Zealand and now Canada. So no matter where I go I know I can find a great job with a great company. This is my forever job ☺️

Fun for the young
Club Manager (Former Employee) - Doreen VIC - 2 February 2023
This would be good for young people without adult responsibilities to learn life skills. A fun job that pays people equivalent to a 15 year old burger flipper at Macca’s.
Pros
Keeping fit
Cons
Pay

Slow paced - minimum wage job
Club Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 25 November 2022
Employees are expected to work odd hours in-line with the company's needs. This often leads to a heavy sacrifice of work/ life balance. Employees are paid minimum wage in-line with fitness awards. Reviews are annually completed, however employee turnover is between 1-3 months. Employers carry the mindset of, hire new and save costs on further reviews/ improvements in employee benefits.

Comfortable place to work
Receptionist/Administration (Former Employee) - Bankstown NSW - 22 October 2022
Managers and boss were really great. They were kind, understanding, helpful and always recognised achievements even small things like doing well with a membership sign up. Very grateful for how professional but still friendly they were. Being at work always felt comfortable and welcoming. Good place to work if you're interested in admin work and social work settings and boost your confidence. Hardest part for me was difficult customers. E.g people swearing and screaming at you for ridiculous things and it can get draining, however boss and managers always have your back.

Great members and PTs but off company
Club Manager (Former Employee) - South Australia - 27 June 2022
This position was me trying to get my foot in the door. The members are wonderful, great to chat to and are a good way to start up a PT business. Being a personal trainer or group instructor is great but management is a totally different story. Company as a whole makes you a fake personality that you have to abide by. Following scripts and hassling people with call after call, even with no answer. Most members end up blocking the number. They seem to be all about the money and it is very well hidden when they advertise. Every other gym advertises costs on the website, Anytime Fitness makes people enquire and then wait for a call. Also this: “Sign up and get a month free” but also pay an upfront joining cost and $60 for a FOB? No other gym I’ve been to does that. They also set major targets for you to achieve and hound on you if you can’t get certain amount of leads in. Oh and I was expected to work and pull in leads on BOXING DAY! Typical American company.
Pros
Members, free membership and superannuation
Cons
Long days, fake personalities, your just a number to them

Worst place ive ever worked,
Assistant Manager in gym (Former Employee) - Warragul VIC - 13 June 2022
Worst place ive ever worked, might not be all anytimes as its a franchise but dont work in warragul the boss is a horrible bully who treats his staff terribly, screams & swears abuse at them & has no respect for anyone. Employ you as 1 thing then expect you to do your job plus 2 other peoples jobs without extra hours or pay & make you do things like clean out sanitary bins . They dont spend the money to make it work & abuse you when it doesnt

Jobs at Anytime Fitness
Poor management and culture.
Personal Trainer (Former Employee) - Dandenong North - 17 October 2021
Lots of promises, with nothing to become of it. Management have their favourites, and all the pro's went to them . Very poorly run gym and beware of sales people. It's all about $$$

Great for social interaction, bad pay!
Club Manager (Current Employee) - Victoria - 5 September 2021
Great place to work if you have a good team, and the members are awesome. However, severely underpaid for the amount of work and hours you put in. I also feel that head office are behind the times in many ways. Money is way too strong of a focus from head office and the expectations of what to charge new members to join are ridiculous.
Pros
Members
Cons
Salary

Great Community, however owners that did not care for the club made the role awful.
Club Manager (Former Employee) - St Albans VIC - 31 August 2021
Not an awful role, loved to community and the job itself however higher management did poorly. The club was not up to standard by any means, pay was always late and commissions were never received.
Pros
Great members can create a really fun environment
Cons
Hours not suitable if you have a family, underpaid for what you do. Commissions promised but never received, micromanaged.

Slow-paced and micromanaged
Manager (Current Employee) - Castle Hill NSW - 15 July 2021
Area managers will come in almost 3-4 times a week to sit and watch what you're doing. Theres only so much someone can do in a day to generate and contact leads. It was nice to be able to train while working when the way was quiet or slow. You'd have the same conversations everyday when the general manager called 3 times/day which became tedious. They made poor decisions to increase rates from $50/month to $75/month minimum for a gym that hasn't been renovated in 5 years.
Pros
Free Gym Membership
Cons
No opportunity for growth

Best place I've worked!
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 26 October 2020
Best coworker's, great environment, excellent management. Was a joy to go to work everyday. The company is amazing really (especially Albany Creek). When the virus first broke out and all the gyms closed, the owner did Zoom workout classes for members to join in with from the comfort of our homes. Very friendly and helpful staff and management. I would rate this company very highly.
Pros
Workout after shifts.
Cons
None that I can think of.

Underpaid and treated like a child
Administraiton membership & sales (Former Employee) - Brighton VIC - 14 February 2020
Was underpaid for a long time and also not paid for overtime and on call. Boss was all about pointing the finger of blame at staff and very hypocritical. Also pays people to ring up secret shoper style but they're friends so it's super unprofessional and inaccurate

Was a very nice work place
Work Experience Student (Former Employee) - Doyalson NSW - 14 January 2020
All nice people, very easy and straight forward, I mainly got too cleaning and helping people in classes but they were simple. I had work at the front desk and that was probably the most complicated one but still easy
