ANZ insights
Areas for improvement
- General feeling of work happiness
- Support from manager
- Sense of belonging
Customer protection team going downhill quickly
Digital Fraud detection officer (Former Employee) - Docklands VIC - 30 October 2023
I used to love my job as a digital fraud detection officer until it became a call centre. Its good that they were able to tighten the rules to create a greater likelihood that Falcon will pick up on fraud, but what it did was reduce any actual investigation that used to be required and simply became ticking boxes and answering calls. The role basically became a call centre role without being called that, and they started to focus on quantity rather than quality, and heaven help you if you still wanted to produce quality and took longer to complete tasks so that your productivity is lower than others that don't spend the time double-checking and completing all required tasks. Sure, I could be quicker if I just locked everything and put it off for someone else to follow up, but I didn't want to work like that. The micromanaging became debilitating and so stressful. The rotating rosters are ridiculous and are not work life balance at all. All in all I wouldnt recommend working there.

Demanding with low pay
Banking Consultant (Former Employee) - Northern Beaches NSW - 11 October 2023
The people that I’ve worked with are great but the whole business structure is horrible. Most branches are understaffed and to meet deadlines you need to work overtime. The pay does not translate to the amount of work you do.

Laid back people but hard work.
Small Business consultant (Current Employee) - Melbourne City Centre VIC - 7 October 2023
Great office culture, tough work but gets easier with progression, very stat driven, you'll get all the support you need and always will get help when requested.

Ok
Banking Consultant (Former Employee) - South Australia - 19 September 2023
Ok workplace, lots of unpaid overtime if you don't balance. Pay isn't the best considering it is one of the big 4 banks. Managers don't manage, never taking accountability for their actions

Good place to work but not to grow
Data Scientist (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 31 August 2023
ANZ is a good place to work with excellent culture, specially if you are in ANZx. However, opportunities to grow are rare and you aren’t allowed to move from a role if you haven’t been in your current role for at least 12 months. Also, pay raises are hard to come by. They would rather pay almost double to a new hire than pay more to keep a current employee. It’s best to leave and come back

Competitive and active environment
Banking Officer (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 21 July 2023
There are many pressures while working at ANZ. However, those trainings are worth in the long run. They also pay decent pay, and my coworkers are friendly as well.

Not too bad
Banking Consultant (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 25 June 2023
Unless you’re a manager/senior/home lender, you need to be multi skilled as a bank consultant e.g. telling, opening accounts, deceased estates, power of attorney, business banking, calling leads - and consultants don’t get paid enough for all of this, unlike home lenders or business specialists who primarily focus on one area. Customers are tough and abusive, need to have thick skin. Customers are very much stuck in their ways and refuse to learn. Most teams and managers I’ve worked with have been awesome which I’m lucky, as I know some teams aren’t as good. But everyone I’ve met in the business so far has been great. Pay is alright, as I said consultants need more but higher ups seem to be on decent money if you can climb the ladder. Look, good place to learn new skills and knowledge, great to meet new co-workers, however the customers can be very tough to deal with and the pay isn’t the best. Make your own fun because the job is quite boring.

Good learning Experience
Administration Officer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 24 May 2023
Training was good and staff friendly. I was provided with a good salary for the role and enjoyed my time there. I would work there again if I found another position.

Very pushy and always pushing you to sell their products
Banking Consultant (Former Employee) - Boronia VIC - 28 March 2023
It was so chaotic going from telling once or twice a week to consulting as you no sooner start doing something for a customer and then the next day you would be on the teller again. This takes time away from being able to help customers and makes the whole process longer. Telling should be one job and consulting another
Pros
Training to advance your career
Cons
Long hours

Unrewarding culture where you don’t get recognised for performing beyond your role
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Pitt Street NSW - 28 February 2023
Its a shame that I’ve wasted several years for my life being baited for a role that they never offered regardless of the commitment and effort put. During the first year being a Personal banker was promised by several different leaders for full time hours, instead once an opportunity came they hired someone new, with zero experience in banking. Abusive environment from management, fellow staff members and especially unsatisfied customers. To top it all off low salaries compared to what you will get from a different bank or company for the same role with less workload.
Pros
No account fees (its a joke)
Cons
Stressful environment from peers, management and customers

Awful experience- bullying from management rife
Branch Manager (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 9 February 2023
An awful experience that I wish I didn’t endure. It was a very sales driving no care place with very little ability to earn due to processes being geared towards upper management renumeration
Pros
Free uniform
Cons
Long hours no overtime

Productive work place
Bank Manager (Former Employee) - Timor VIC - 1 February 2023
Culture was good, Management quite good sometimes. Hardest part is when you are not listening or welcoming opinion. Management keeps changing most of the time. New personality to adjust to.

Free lunches and overtime
Cons
long hours and hectic
