lot of fun activites like card games and table tennis, free yoga sessions, bootcamps for employees, fortnightly drinks, free breakfast everyday ,events like christmas and easter .
My tradecraft is just one cog (of many) in the wheel of the engine powering ARQ's Marketing department.
The opportunity to contribute work with purpose for people that care. And therein lies one of the upsides that I've discovered working at ARQ: the people... your team.
Maybe it's my department, maybe it's the wider organisation, but I've experienced nothing but respectful, courteous adults (with an awesome sense of humour) who are masters in their craft. Working with a calibre of like-minded professionals at the top of their game helps sharpen intellectual steel. If knowledge and professional growth is your juice, ARQ is an orchard.
Pros
Autonomy, independence, flat structure, remote work, work-life balance (due to remote), talented and respectful colleagues, flat-management structure, (and they use MACs).
Cons
None yet as it's early days.
The environment on the front line is good, people are great, work is interesting and challenging.
The higher you go and with all work places, the more political it becomes. A culture that needs to change in the senior/middle management layer.
Arq Group is a nice Company with nice people and culture and gives quite a lot of flexibility. The teams are distributed in three cities: Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
The process they have to evaluate and give constant feedback to each employee is great, every single goal and milestone is realistic and well defined.
Very poor management and leadership. Strong culture of favouritism, you are only visible if and when you have 'right' people in your corner. Any unpopular opinions or challenging anything led to victimisation and people leaving.
Pros
low standards, you can do whatever you want
Cons
no real progression, toxic culture
The culture matched that of any business lacking change management who profits off multiple acquisitions. The app company had a fun, positive culture, the SEO company much the same in a less nerdy way and the rest of the organisation had a really poor, discouraging culture.
Management only hire from external organisations to secure their own jobs and prefer to overlook major flaws rather than fix any complex problems.
I do not recommend working for this company outside of the app or SEO business and even then you are under the influence of poor management.
Pros
Low performance standards
Cons
Terrible management, messy systems, poor culture
Official response from ARQ Group
11 September 2018We’re sorry to hear that you haven't had the best experience working here. We are continuing to grow and evolve and like any business, our journey is not always a smooth one for all our employees . We are working hard to build a strong and vibrant culture in the business and will certainly take on board the comments you’ve provided.
Great heritage in development and wonderful opportunities. Company with much acquisition opportunities and an industry with room for much improvements.
