Great Group of People

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The people and the students really made the job. The work could be overwhelming and many people felt as if teams were understaffed. But a great campus

Pretty good but depends on course convenor

If you get a good course convenor or supervisor then it’s good-the pay is good, students are respectful, and the workload can be flexible depending on your situation. If you don’t, then you may be expected to work beyond your hours, not be appreciated, and have overbearing and controlling supervisors

Good place to work but big uncertainty

Good place to work with smart colleages. However, there is a lack of certainty for long-term jobs. Also, most of the important tasks and opportunities are often dedicated to core faculties, making it extremely difficult for contract-based staff to advance the academic ladder.

ANU “Gardeners/Ground Maintenance Department

I greatly enjoyed my time working as a Section Gardener. Great place to work and friendly people to work with. Highly recommend if the opportunity arises, and you’re a keen gardener, to put in an application. Lots of native wildlife too. Loved it.

Pros

The natural landscape and the people are great to work with. Zac

Cons

Waz. not long enough.

horrible manager, horrible workplace

I do believe ANU is a great place to work. Generally, excellent pay and excellent working conditions. However, there are a certain race people working at ANU( I used to be one of them), and their culture is horrible. make ANU a worse place to work now.

Pros

good pay, good work condition

Cons

too much a certain race--It's not racism, I am one of them. I know this ethnic people.

Great place to work

Highly flexible hours and high pay. Great learning opportunities for future lab work and interactions with all levels of academia. Obviously culture is very lab dependent but every lab I worked in was an overall positive experience.

Great workpace

I have been working as a casual employee at the ANU for over 4 years. It is by far one of the most enjoyable experiences in my professional career. Great work culture and a lot of freedom is given to tutors and research assistants.

A good opportunity for collaborative work

The ANU has offered a great opportunity to grow in both my profession and my personal life. Being able to collaborate with colleagues in other fields has enriched my career and the ANU has been a great place to achieve this.

Productive Workplace

ANU is a very employee centric organisation and the management is also considerate to the needs of its employees. The environment is very collaborative

Has bullying problem

Supervisors/managers are not accountable for their actions. They hold so much power people are afraid to report the relentless bullying that happens. I submitted a formal complaint but have seen no action taken yet.

Very Good Work Culture

Very good place to work. I love teaching students at The Australian National University. All tutors are given training before the semester starts. This is very helpful.

Academic and balanced life

Being a PhD candidate days are more often engaged on researches and planning publications. A balanced life, not to limit to academic is important in order to manage the physical and metal health. ANU is an institute which always promote healthier, balanced life

Good

Good place to work, nice setting in bushy surrounds. Well paid and stimulating intellectually. Not a lot of work available beyond contracts though. I'd work there again, happily.

A good place for future

I learned a lot in the Research School of Chemistry in the ANU. I indeed improved not only in my skills and but also in my mind. After leaving the ANU, I feel like I could face any difficulties in my daily life.

A tool to learn more!

ANU is a nice environment for any enthusiastic body to learn more. It's almost very equipped with modern facilities which in some cases may be at the top in the globe. Highly talented staffs also could make a nice network for collaborating more efficiently.

Working at RSB

Firstly, the Research School of Biology has an excellent school manager who knows the rules, is flexible with time but still requires you to do good work. There is ample opportunity to go to different talks about subjects in the school and you get to meet people that are actually making a difference to the work we live in. Hardest part: always proving that you have the right to work there and not wanting to disappoint your peers or manager. Enjoyable: your colleagues are generally well chosen and the researchers are good people.

Pros

Flexible time

Cons

None
