Good work life balance
Analyst (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 20 April 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedVery top heavy and hard to progress. They would rather hire externally than promote internally. Great work life balance, standard with APS work. Don't stay too long and become institutionalised

Toxic workplace
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 1 January 2023
Dysfunctional new management that display favouritism and promote a toxic culture. Need to manage accross and down better instead of devoting so much effort on managing upwards.

Highly political organisation with limited management capability
Senior Advisor (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 30 January 2022
Lots of change at Commission level, and absolute stagnancy beneath. Bizarre approach to management and leadership, zero executive accountability and no appetite to improve performance.
Pros
Very light workload
Cons
No benefit to investing effort

Great work culture with good management.
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Traralgon VIC - 30 January 2022
Great place to work with good management and a culture of caring for the mental and physical health of their employees. The work was varied and at times challenging but with plenty of breaks. Wages were good.
Pros
Great workplace culture, working five days a week, no weekend work. Gym. Varied jobs.
Cons
Work may be stressful at times.

Productive and fun place to work
Business Solutions Manafer (Former Employee) - Market Street, Sydney - 14 March 2021
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at ASIC. The work was carried between financial and real economy though with my background in financial markets the financial economy was more interesting. Worked on internal projects as well as with market participants / investment banks, and stock exchanges including on bleeding edge type projects and technology around market supervision. Partners included universities and research institutions collaboratively to define metrics for measuring the efficiency and integrity of financial markets.
Pros
100 Market Street provides a chic office to work
Cons
None

Great place to work
Administration Services Officer (Former Employee) - Traralgon VIC - 12 December 2019
My time at ASIC was interesting and a learning experience as it was a transfer of skills from Accounts services and Customer Services that I had done previously to doing Compliance checking and processing of payments and communicating with clients by phone or written communication.
My comparison of ASIC was they were a step up in IT atmosphere in regard to duties done to what I had been familiar with in any other environment.
Pros
Good Team working atmosphere and team working situations
Cons
Contract work and not knowing when contract may end

Flexible and Supportive Culture
Evidence Services Officer (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 16 September 2019
There are a lot of support towards Job Work/Life Balance and Job Security.
Management is very understanding of life outside of work and supports family responsibilities.

Great place to work
Senior Business Analyst (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 24 April 2019
ASIC is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.
We are an independent Commonwealth Government body. We are set up under and administer the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act), and we carry out most of our work under the Corporations Act 2001 (Corporations Act).
The ASIC Act requires us to:
maintain, facilitate and improve the performance of the financial system and entities in it
promote confident and informed participation by investors and consumers in the financial system
administer the law effectively and with minimal procedural requirements
enforce and give effect to the law
receive, process and store, efficiently and quickly, information that is given to us
make information about companies and other bodies available to the public as soon as practicable
take whatever action we can, and which is necessary, to enforce and give effect to the law.

Good Team but managers were not great
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 19 February 2019
A great team to work with however Management were not supportive. Typical Federal Government mentality which resulted in a toxic job culture and staff struggling to remain positive.

ASIC was amazing place to work, being an EA to such an important person was such an honor and I gained so much experience during my time as EA.
The workplace was amazing and we all worked like clockwork together.
At times it was very stressful and very busy, but it was a challenge that I enjoyed,
Pros
Great workplace, great to gain new skills, very interesting work
Cons

Facilities Team Leader (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 10 December 2017
Great culture, work like balance. Great people, great managers, open door policy, industry leader, social club, great benefits, national exposure, technologically savvy.

Live outside of Sydney - forget it.
If you work outside of Sydney forget about ever being able to advance in your career in ANY of ASIC's work areas. The organisation's focus on customer service has sadly been lost in recent years.

Great people, a little bureaucratic
Team Leader, Converged Networks (Former Employee) - Sydney Central Business District NSW - 13 September 2017
In the beginning, a lot of opportunities for learning and development. This became less so over time. Trend was to do more with less staff. Management style tended to be more command and control rather than empowering individuals. Overall, I very much enjoyed my job at ASIC.

A day in the life of a Service Desk Manager
IT Service Desk Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 19 October 2014
A typical day can never be written down as no two days are alike. Every day I faced new challenges that had to be met while existing work still needed to be completed.
Time challenges where often one of our biggest issues but no matter what we faced during the day, when I walked out at the end of each day I knew I had made a difference to the business and achieved positive results. The process may have been varied to get there but we did in the end make those deadlines.
Pros
Interesting work
Cons
Tight deadlines

Very productive environment
Data Entry (Contract) (Former Employee) - Traralgon - 10 July 2013
Open plan office co-workers were generally great.
No flexibility for this particular position as desk sharing didn't allow starting time changes to fit in with school hours.
Very enjoyable.
Pros
Excellent Superannuation
Cons
Hot Desk 5 hour shift.
