Hot, nasty, stressful, dangerous work with a lot of good people.
I started in manufacturing mixing paint anywhere from small batches of 10 gallons to large batches up to 10,000 gallons. It's hot dirty work involving a lot of different chemicals ranging from S1 to S7 and powered pigment. Nomex uniform is supplied by the company along with all the PPE you can possibly think of including full faced resperator, gloves, - more... and chemical suits. Safety is stressed in meetings and by upper management but production is the name of the game on the floor. Extensive training on chemical handling, forklift (PMHE), and fire prevention are provided. The hours are 12 hour rot ... - less
ProsPay, time off, and the people that work there.
ConsWorking in a hot environment, pressure to quickly turn out a perfect product, management staff of chemical engineers, that can't see past the charts and formulas to effectively manage.
