Good place to work lots of challenges
Retail assistant (Current Employee) - Townsquare - 5 December 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood place to work, food a bit expensive but with rent and electricity subsidised it does not make much difference to me. With housing there are some issues but again you have issues with real estates as well so again no big issue. The main thing is to realise that you are isolated from everything in cities. But they provide a lot of activities here. Lots of chances to make friends but has small town mentality, so there is gossip. We do have blackouts and internet drop outs so have to be prepared with powerbanks for mobile devices. Satellite internet works good out here plus can take with you. Big thing is it is a great opportunity to save money, lots of challenges, chances to make good friends. If you love a challenge then go for it.
Pros
Great experinces
Cons
Have to have strong mi d due to isolation from family

Can be better
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Yulara NT - 4 April 2023
The surrounding enviroment and indigenous culture are the only good things I remember. Easy to make freinds there, but easier to become negative gossip.

Good place to learn various skill, but can be hard mentally for certain people.
Kitchen Steward (Former Employee) - Yulara NT - 17 June 2021
+ * Can learn many skill from various department when do casual job. * Meet Various people from different backgrounds. - * Housing will not care about your complain at all, so it can be really mentally draining when you have to live in share room with people that not compatible with you. ( This one maybe a bit subjective ) * Some department don't really care about your WHS at all. * Food outlet and groceries price in here pricier compare to city ( can be up to 1.5x), if you can't cook it will be quite hard here. Tips from me if you have to live in share room better come with someone to live with you, it will be much better for your mental health because housing don't really care about that. And a lot of noise especially in the area of share house at night so it will be quite disturbing sometimes.
Pros
Great place to learn various skill
Cons
Mentally Draining

Work life and personal life is well balanced. Good place for friends and economic sustainability. Loved everything about Ayers Rock resort. The natural beauty of the resort is phenomenal. You have a choice of places to work and visit. A bit remote but everything is available

No appreciation in Sails in the desert
Food and Beverage Attendant (Former Employee) - Uluru National Park NT - 29 January 2020
I worked for the five star hotel in Ayers Rock. I never felt less appreciated in a job in my life (I've worked for several resorts in Australia before), It felt like the effort I was making everyday for serving customers was all in vain. They didn't motivate us, instead, we would be told off even if some of the people (including me) were working very hard. They even told us the general manager had decided that we didn't deserve a Christmas party because of our performance (they did it in the end but apparently even the people who were working hard didn't deserve it either). As I said, working for the restaurant in Sails in the desert was not good, the most of the servers were girls some of us short and thin and the amount and weight we were pushed to carry should be illegal. I still have some back problems because of that. Once I told one of the managers I couldn't carry more weight that night because my back was hurting and he said that was nothing, that he had worked in places worse than this one (I can't think of anything worse coming from a "5" star hotel). What I found in management (except 1 or 2 people) was a lot of misogyny and no assessment (they feel like kings and they treat you the way they wanted to treat you). No appreciation for hard work, overwhelming attention if you made a mistake. If you want to save money, it is a good place because there is nothing to do. I wish the whole resort support more outdoor activities, cultural activities, etc. instead of drinking alcohol. If you work here, I'd recommend working for a different hotel within the resort.
Pros
Free meal in duty (don't expect much), cheap accommodation, posibility to multi-hire.
Cons
Banked hours system, no appreciation to hard work, not many activities or amusement on site, very isolated, expensive prices in supermarket

HOUSEKEEPER/ROOM ATTENDANT (Former Employee) - Yulara NT - 18 August 2019
I have really enjoyed working at this resort. Meeting new people and seeing happy, smiling faces of tourists and locals is wonderful. Very hard if you have a family to pack up and leave them behind to relocate and work away.

Management plays favourites
Laundry Attendant (Former Employee) - Yulara NT - 25 June 2019
Management always plays favourites with indigenous workers. An indigenous supervisor had an argument with a worker and the supervisor asked him for a fight. No repercussions for the supervisor. I’m sure if that happens in any other work place the supervisor will be canned
