The most useful review selected by IndeedNew wastewater treatment plants is a membrane plant and the council is finding difficult to find necessary trained staff. The operating cost of the plant was un-expectedly very high.

Toxic environment
Technical Officer (Former Employee) - Ballina NSW - 19 November 2018
BSC has reverse evolved from a being a once decent organisation to a toxic and management manipulated self absorbed basket case.
If you have scrupals, are honest and not a yes man or woman then BSC will not suit you.
Good long serving staff are harassed and brow beaten by incompetent and lazy managers.
BSC has been bleeding good staff for quite a while leaving behind an emaciated development influenced skeleton of an organisation.
It's long overdue for the clammy self righteous grip of senior management to be vanquished and for new decent blood to once again flow through the veins of Ballina Shire Council.
Pros
When you leave.
Cons
Getting up every morning and having to work at BSC.

productive
Sustainability Co-ordinator (Former Employee) - Ballina - 3 January 2018
good place to work - I was only part time. The variety of locations and diversity of the work was very good.
Management was great, GM was a really great person and learnt alot in the job.
Worst part of the job was the frustration felt by business owners who were tenants of the building not being able to implement cost saving measures such as Solar PV or hot water to save costs for their business.
The most enjoyable part of the job was when we were able to assist the business owner in business cost saving plus save the environment.
Pros
good management
Cons
part time

Lack of experience people to run the wastewater business. Even then the council has gone for high tech treatment plants by believing the contractors.
Technical Specialist/Process Engineer (Former Employee) - Ballina NSW - 14 September 2016
The contractors were misleading the council to sell a high tech treatment plant (unmanned treatment plant). Now the council spending lot of money and man power to run the plant. It is very sad.

Ballina Shire Council is a good place to work. It needs lot of suppot for operations and maintenance of w & ww treatment plants and operations staff
W & WW Treatment Plant Process Engineer (Former Employee) - Ballina - 12 June 2015
Ballina Shire Council is a good place to work. It needs a lot of suppot for treatment & network operations and maintenance. Especially council needs a good process engineer (PE) with hands on experience and PE should be able to produce SOPs & Unit Process Guidelines (UPGs) and train the staff.
Pros
Flexible working hours
Cons
Needs to realign w&ww business
