I chose to work with Banyule City Council to help people out with their daily lives.
Home Care Worker (Former Employee) - Greensborough VIC - 21 August 2017
A typical day at work would be going to clients houses and helping them out with keeping them independent and helping them to maintain their home in a reasonably good standard according to the work place policies such as vacuuming, mopping the floors, cleaning their bathrooms, doing shopping for them.
I have learned a lot about workplace safety and policies, working as a team.
Management is good, from planning rosters to team leaders being approachable if there are any issues.
Workplace culture is that the council is very conscientious about doing the right thing towards the customers as well as co-workers.
The hardest part of the job is when there is a loss of a client.
The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that you are helping people to continue their lives independently and assist them with everyday activities.

Very busy
Multiskill Operator (Current Employee) - Bellfield - 19 December 2016
Not enough team work, lots of people don't show at work, a culture where you can not trust no one. Lots of gossip and back stabbing.
Pros
Lots of overtime
Cons
Never at home

Productive, friendly workplace
Office Work Experience (Former Employee) - Rosanna, VIC - 6 January 2015
I was treated very well considering I was a work experience student. I generally helped out the office staff with tasks such as data entry and database updating, posting fliers and updating the website. I learnt that helping people, as well as a 9-5 job is quite fulfilling to me. I could turn up, do my work, go home and leave work at work - no odd hours, and an accessible workplace. My co-workers were lovely people who even held a birthday party for one, but they also knew that when to draw the line that when they were working, they were busy. I really enjoyed the ease I felt at this job, and the hardest part was having enough work to fill my day.
Pros
No odd hours, not busy
