Variety of duties kept day to day work life enjoyable

Enjoyable. Variety of clients and managers.Difficult at times to keep up with the expectation of some managers. Initially a high turnover of managers who had their individual ideas. Part time hours were good for work/home life balance.

Discrimination

It is definitely a learning curve for those new to this line of work. However, as someone from a background other than Australian it is a highly discriminatory environment to work in.

I had worked at Baptist Care SA for 5 plus years

After working for other companies , BC are the best , caring , kind , my experience has been fantastic , the company is just moving from strength to strength , great opportunities to move up if you desire , client support excellent , pay great on time , love working here , lots of hours , challenging at times , but ongoing training helps with that , go for it , you will love it !!!!!

Great work environment lack of real management support

Great pay if you're casual, despite lacking in benefits. Management can be great, but often felt like there was a lack of any "real" support. Have been there for a few years, and only a handful of actual co-workers that I catch up with outside of work.

Too many chiefs not enough Indians

Some great staff, but disappointed with management due to in effective communication and willingness to just do rather than delegate appropriate induction, training and support though.

great place to work

I worked for baptist care for just over a year. They were beautiful people to work for and i enjoyed helping people achieve the goal of employment it was very rewarding. The hardest part of the job was trying to help those who really didn't want your help but attended appointments just to stay on payments from center-link.

Pros

experience and achievements

Cons

helping those who didn't want to be helped

Shocking culture.

Stay away, work life balance is rubbish, management do not care and the only way to advance to have friends and family in higher places. Not a nice culture and have become greedy for the dollars over care.

Pros

None

Cons

Baptist care its self.

Superb Team Work @ Placement

I love working with them as a Pastor, because of their Christian view but I really want to face the community by working for any other organisation with a general view.

Pros

Free Support @ floor Workers

Nightmare

24/7 shift system is handy for life balance, but roster staff sometimes bully you into shifts you can't work or at placements you have bad experiences with. Other times there are zero shifts available so it's difficult to have a longstanding financial commitment like a mortgage. NO opportunity for career advancement or flexibility within the role, and the head office culture is absolutely toxic, arrogant and cliquey. No support for staff, managers impossible to track down, training is lacklustre. Pay rate is dismal for the work, absolutely unfair compensation for being abused on shift almost every day, and no support after any incidents other than a half-assed EAP offer. No supports in place for kids in residential care either, staff are simply a band-aid on the bigger issues Baptist Care ignore.

Pros

CSE/police checks are paid by them.

Cons

Almost everything.

Uncertainty

Working in a community sector has always been stressful, especially considering you are working on a contract which only lasts as long as the funding lasts.
