Going Downhill
Staff (Current Employee) - Wynnum - 8 April 2023
While things started off well at BHN, the high staff turnover and constant changes in management and procedures has put strain on both clients and clinicians. The sheer amount of job ads listed under this company should be an indication of the business status and success. While the work and clients here are good, the management, billing, service agreements, and customer care are so mismanaged and often overlooked. Support/ learning opportunities for staff/ clinicians again is underwhelming. Most staff who don't have a team are on their own with no opportunity for growth and ongoing development in their skills- hence why they leave, which of course puts more pressure on the 'team' that's left over. The same goes for the onboarding of staff. Can not begin to list the number of people who have been there for over a year, and still have no idea about the basic procedures which should be done. Not that this is their fault, they were just never taught correctly. Finally, the culture behind closed doors. The alleged treatment of some staff is just unacceptable and I personally cannot support an environment which cuts corners like this.
Pros
Diary Flexability
Cons
Mismanagement

Red flags from the start
Administration (Former Employee) - Wynnum QLD - 3 April 2023
Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been quite disappointing. The management seems to be poor, which has resulted in a lack of support for staff when it comes to training and career progression. I have found that there is little investment in staff development, and the opportunities for advancement are limited. As a result of this, there has been a high turnover of staff within the company, which has impacted team morale and productivity. The lack of support and guidance from management has left many feeling unsupported and unappreciated. Overall, I cannot recommend this company to anyone looking for a supportive and nurturing work environment. The management needs to take steps to address these issues, invest in staff development and create a positive work culture that values and supports its employees.

Poorly managed business
BHN (Former Employee) - Wynnum QLD - 3 April 2023
The staff members are an asset to this business, but unfortunately are treated very poorly, hence a high turnover. There is a clear lack of support for clinicians and staff, management seem to be only concerned with profiting off staff. No work life balance and broken promises found by all current and ex staff. Lack of helpful training and supervision for those staff members requiring/seeking it. Management take no responsibility for their actions.

Honest community focused business
Allied Health Assistant (Former Employee) - Wynnum QLD - 17 August 2022
I enjoyed working at BHN even though things were challenging at times (thanks COVID!). I felt supported and had a clear idea of where my career progression was heading. Problem solving was required at times, it could be a challenge but helped me grow and times have been hard for everyone. I loved the staff, clients and felt supported by management whenever I needed it.

Community health practice, supportive and honest
Allied Health (Current Employee) - Wynnum QLD - 14 August 2022
Great community business that genuinely cares for its customers and clients. Despite the challenging times, owner is transparent and honest about the environment and issues over recruitment. Some people have not liked the honesty but for me has been the most transparent place I have ever worked. Recent departures have been mix of staff relocating and those who are the wrong cultural fit. Sad to see how negative some people can be when a community practice is trying its hardest to help people in a pandemic. I have never had issues and enjoy what I do
Pros
Location, transparency, support
Cons
Legacy bad cultural fits

Toxic workplace
Exercise Physiologist (Former Employee) - Wynnum QLD - 9 August 2022
Approximately 15 staff have left this business in the last two months or so due to the toxic nature of the clinic. Most staff have left because of their ethical and moral dilemma caused by being required to take shortcuts and not have the best interests of the clients at heart. There is a lot of client dissatisfaction because of the lack of staff retention.

Good staff, ethos, business
Administrator (Former Employee) - Wynnum - 9 August 2022
Started working here during COVID And it has been great to see the support and care provided. Times have been stressful for everyone, but the management have done a good job supporting people and I see lots of help being offered to clients and staff. Pay was better than previous job, current market is crazy too
Pros
Community feel, care, trust
Cons
Short term staff

Community focused health practice
Business Support Specialist (Current Employee) - Wynnum - 8 August 2022
Community business that care a lot about their customers and the local community. Team has been fantastic on the whole, few staff had displayed bad behaviour but thankfully they have left. Culture has been good even though time has been hard. Management try where they can despite lockdowns and staff only here for the money.
Pros
Coffee, community care, support
Cons
Legacy poor performers

Stressful work environment
Allied Health (Former Employee) - Bayside Heath Nook - 8 August 2022
There was low remuneration and progression thereof. My hours were often cut without notice (even as a full time employee). While the staff members are generally very kind, there is a very high staff turnover rate, with so many staff changes to the point that it completely changed the workplace culture. You are often expected to work outside of your job description without support or mentoring to do so. I was promised full support and mentorship, but this promise didn't last long after starting the job. My diary constantly changed without notice and more often breaks were removed. As a result, the workplace was very stressful.
Pros
Lovely staff, great coffee from the baristas
Cons
High staff turnover, poor direction/ownership/management, limited support

Poor work environment and pay
BHN (Former Employee) - BHN - 6 August 2022
Didn't receive mentoring or clinical support as promised. I could not fault the wonderful staff, however after a lot of staff members left I no longer felt supported and found the work demands were unrealistic. Below standard pay and poor pay progression.

Busy environment but everyone works together to get the job done.
Administration (Current Employee) - Wynnum, QLD - 30 October 2021
I never would have thought I could love coming to work as much as I have since joining the team at BHN. I've been supported and heard at every stage of employment and work
Pros
Flexibility based on your own needs/ availability
Cons
As a newer business, there is often some problem solving that needs to take place when a new challenge comes up.

Workplace with a positive vibe, and a nice mix of disciplines, caseload, and experience.
Physiotherapist (Current Employee) - Wynnum - 19 October 2021
Everyone is friendly and welcoming in the mornings. Management are always respectful and supportive of staff. Staff strongly collaborate across disciplines, brainstorm/ problem-solve. There are physios, massage therapists, OT, speech, exercise physiologists, nutrition/ dietetics. There is a large variety of clients across all ages, including clients with disability.
Pros
Being paid for working overtime
Cons
Sometimes the mentoring is erratic when things are very busy.

Supportive team and room to work independently
Physiotherapist (Current Employee) - Wynnum - 17 October 2021
BHN is a lovely place to work both physically (the clinic is modern and stylish with loads of natural light and even has a little coffee shop/window) as well as emotionally with a friendly and supportive team. Typical day: Most clinicians will work independently with their clients in private rooms or in the gym. There is usually time for admin and a coffee and a quick catch up with team members. Some days we have an inservice or team meeting (which might be all staff clinic meetings or particular health practitioners to discuss/problem solve particular cases) Management is very understanding about lives outside of work and this job has been accomodating to needs for time off for various things, or flexibility to go to appointments/look after kids etc. they are also supportive of career development and as a practice we try and foster each others interest (eg - directing appropriate clients to different practitioners, supporting with CPD etc) Workplace culture is friendly, people ask about your weekend and listen to what you say. We have done the occassional social gathering but don't do it very often. I would probably like a few more drinks after work etc but people are usually busy outside of work - me included so it often doesn't happen.
Pros
Coffee shop with super friendly baristas
Cons
not able to pay for maternity leave etc like you might get working in the public sector, but will hold your position
