Typical day in the Pilbara
Procurement & Material Handling (Former Employee) – Curtis Island QLD – 17 January 2019
A typical day would be between 10 and 12 hours ensuring steel was loaded out on time to site , dealing with missing pieces ,answering to management where we were at , conflict resolution , working to conditions , adhering to workplace safety.
The hardest part of the job apart from the roster was ensuring all steel was accounted for as it came in the yard , crossed checked to the manifest then placed in a bay in the laydown yard.
The most enjoyable part of the job was self satisfaction in knowing you were a part of the project and did the best you could day in day out.
Liaising with management, other department & engineers on a daily basis was rewarding too as I gained new knowledge and insight on how the pieces of the project went together.
But in saying that I don't want to do Fly in Fly out anymore and wish to be home every night
