Great place to work

I enjoyed working at Yandi. People were good and the management and the camp was great permanent rooms food was good and plenty of other sporting options and pool and gym.

My employer had ethnic culture issues

This company employed a gang of ethnic cultured staff who had no knowledge of safety nor was their english good , most could not communicate to advise them their were safety issues with their work practises.Croations.

Large Scale Open Cut Mine but small Family environment to work in.

BHP Mt Arthur Coal was a great benefit to my overall experience in the mining industry & had great opportunities for up skilling on World Class equipment & machinery.

Pros

Large scale in machinery.

Cons

Management was well understaffed resulting in unnecessary confusion and mistakes.

My job here was mainly on a haul truck carting either ore or waste to passes,stock piles or stopes. I was to conduct pre start checks on the machine to ensure it was in a safe working order and to basically cart dirt around the mine to its allocated spots but my job was also to operate mobile rosk breackers at ore passes and the water truck.

Pros

Very clean mine good roads and passes ect.

Cons

I was away from my family most of the time and travelled at my own expense

Mining Technician Dump Truck Operator (Former Employee) - Mount Keith, WA - 14 August 2015

FI/FO 2 weeks on 1 week off 12.5 hour shifts, 7 day shifts starting at 5.40am ending at 6.15pm. 7 night shifts starting at 5.40pm ending at 6.15am. Great crew of people good leadership, always prepared to listen to you and assist with anything. The hardest part of the job was just being away from Family, however once you over come that the job & lifestyle are great.

Everything is taken care of....all meals, Ppe, Transport & good pay

A safe and secure company to work for recognising individuals talents to progrees within the industry. Long hours but both mentally and financially rewarding. Management took an interest in their teams and dealt with any concerns quickly, the hardest part of the job is being away from home. The most enjoyable part of the job was good pay and conditions and security of employment

Day/Night ops working along side large Haul Trucks in very busy production / open pit site/s. Professional Management / Support Staff there to assist as required. Harmonious working conditions & good camp FIFO lifestyle.

The hardest thing to accept was that when I was there to be trained there were insufficient trainers and therefore I was laid off.I loved the idea of being a DUMP TRUCK OPERATOR and I really enjoyed the majority of my co-workers and managementI have learn't a lot about mining and CAT 793's.
