Blue Cross is a very large company. That said, as an employee, you feel that your opinions or recommendations are valued and acted on. Very good care staff and excellent in-house education programs.

Pros

Education, training and great office atmosphere

Cons

Lack of work availability, unpaid travel (km's) and high expectations

Don't do it

I started in 2029, such a beautiful company to work for, I felt so proud to work thereThe staff and residents beautiful, and most importantly I had the best managers I ever had, they made you feel that no matter what you did, you were an asset to the teamFast forward to Oct 2020New management came in, they locked themselves away and only came out to belittle the staffThis year, they decided to cut staff...not just a little bit but alotNurses were made redundant despite all the blood sweat and tears they put into the companyCarers were made redundant or had their hours significantly reduced Staff patient ratio changedOur perfect hours and work/life balance was goneManagement opened the bins and threw us all in there and slammed the lid shut despite all we had sacrificed and did last year during covid and we sacrificed alotThe residents tried to fight for us but we're given a text book response...as expectedI have been in the aged care industry for 12 years and now I have left because blue cross has ruined my love and passion for the industry.Yes aged care has it ups and downs before like any industry but it was manageableI was left with the choice of getting a second job to find the 30 hrsthry took from my original contract or I leave completelyAnd that's what I have doneWhen management or people take your passion away, it's time to leave

Pros

supportive management

My confidence, skills, time management and communication skills were developed. I was able to collaborate well with the team and other stakeholders with the inclusion of diversity. The culture awareness in the workplace is so vital that every one account on it.

Great learning experience

•Talking with residents and following direction in regards to the residents needs. •Helping residents with the daily needs, including personal care, toileting, showering, shaving and getting dressed. •Working in a team and listening to direction from my team leader and management. •Communicating with fellow staff and documenting things such as bowel charts, fluid balance charts and incident reports. •Cleaning resident’s rooms, making their beds, putting their washing in skips and delivering them to the laundry. •Mopping floors on night shift and setting the tables. •Assisting high care residents with meals.

Pros

Great Staff

Cons

Not enough work hours

Fish Phylosphy for Residents but not staff

I worked with Blue Cross happily for 6 years. Change of Management, changed the whole structure.

Pros

Close to home. Supportive Residents and Families

Cons

Change of Management made work difficult for all.
