Excellent workplace
Supportive workplace, values your contribution personally and respects you professionally. Absolutely recommend BlueScope. I do wish they paid their new recruits better or more in alignment with society trends.
Process specialist/ Mechanical in Erskine Park NSW

Monotonous
A good job if you are close to retirement. Mechanical trades will stagnate and gain no experience. If you are young go out and learn and earn. Come here when you've had enough.
Process Worker in Hastings VIC

unprofessional management
management treat employees in a very unprofessional way. H.R department is so poorly run that with the last EA higher management employed a facilitator to do their job because they can't do it. if you get hurt at work they sack you because of the work injury and it's not your fault.

Interview Questions

Recently had an interview where I was successful. They use the STAR method. There was a panel of a few different level managers and HR and they took turns asking questions, I think 6 in total. They asked questions like: "Tell us about a time you worked in a team", "What have you done when you saw someone doing something unsafe", "Tell us a time you made an improvement at the workplace" and one that surprised me was "Was there a time you received unexpected negative feedback and how did you respond to it?" (This could be a co worker or similar if nothing from a boss comes to mind, more a how did you deal with differing opinions type question) I found it helpful to have more than enough stories prepared that I could fit to the different questions they asked me. Definitely ask any questions you have about the job when given an opportunity towards the end of the interview, it shows you're interested and actually thinking about what your life would be like working there. Good luck!

I recently had an interview with them. Mainly safety focused questions and behavioural questions. Questions like “tell me a bit about your background and a bit about yourself” “‘what motivates you?” “‘what are some qualities that you can bring to the role?” “‘what do you know about Bluescope and about the role your applying for?” “‘tell me about a time you worked well in a team?” “‘tell me about a time you noticed a safety issue at work, how you responded and what was the outcome?” “tell me about a typical day in your current role and what are the standard safety procedures for certain tasks?” “tell me about a time when you solved a problem as a team, what your role was and the outcome?” Also questions about future progression and learning, where you want to be in say 5 years or so. Also have a couple of questions of your own handy for the end when they ask you “do you have any questions for us?” I think having lots of safety focused behavioural scenarios and team work problem solving scenarios would be beneficial. Good luck!
