Worst place to work for
Graduate Engineer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 19 September 2023
As a graduate during probation, this company didn't stand their values. You were never given feedback for your performance and they only value what benefits them instead of your own development. They say BMD values their people but in reality, they don't. I wasn't given any development review, feedback in my performance and out of nowhere I was let go in the worst way. Please anyone who considers employment, you will not be treated in their values like they mention in their company.
Pros
N/a
Cons
Do not value their workers

Not a good experience
Environmental Advisor (FIFO) (Former Employee) - Queensland - 26 May 2020
Pay seemed good on paper then forced into fly in fly out position working 10 days straight 12 hour day expectations and travel home in own time and provided accommodation that was appalling. When looking at the hours required vs the salary paid it’s very low pay. Promised a lot then made redundant. Seen aussies used then tossed to the curb for lower paid overseas workers once the Aussie’s trained them up. Also had a good friend become depressed after giving his life to the company and tossed out when he needed them most.

Civil Construction Labourer, Trades Assistant (Former Employee) - Blackmans Bay TAS - 19 September 2019
Being employed with a Labour Hire Company I really enjoyed my time at BMD. The management and co-workers were great and I learnt a lot as well as sharing some of my knowledge with others.... I'd definitely work with them again.

A Toxic Workplace!
Project Engineer (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 29 March 2019
I worked for NSW Urban (Sydney office) where employee turnover is high, hard work goes unrewarded, communication has broken down and backstabbing is highly common. NSW Urban consists of a number of individuals sitting together rather than a team. Managers and leaders do not manage the employees properly and cannot build a team of them. They keep firing the employees instead.
I was lucky to find a bigger and better employer immediately after leaving NSW Urban but the best way is to think twice before joining them.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Negative culture!

poor management from senior staffl
Project Engineer (Current Employee) - NSW South Coast NSW - 9 February 2019
Extremely cliquey. Very difficult to learn the management systems without company support. Long term BMD employees unwilling to assist new starters.
Engineers are bogged down with tasks that others in the company should perform. Lots of areas that the team haemorrhages.
Most difficult part of the job is not being included in discussions relevant to your area of works.
Pros
limited week end works
Cons
very closed shop between the staff.

Good work place
Consrtruction Labourer (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 5 December 2016
At BMD we would start our day of with a tool box, stretches then start our day. I learnt a lot about the construction industry the past 3 years and met a lot of good people who i still keep in touch with. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a good bunch of guys to get the job done. The hardest was probably just working long hours without any breaks.
