Pay is awful, people are great. Hard work but can be rewarding if you like people. Supervisors are good, they all seem to have worked their way up into their roles so they understand the job and are good at managing staff and their workload.

Shifts

They give you job but with no assurance of permanent shifts and even they also told us give us 7days availability so we give you something however we can’t able to work any where else and still didt get enough work as well there is very less support you get from management

Very business orientated have lost client focus and core values

Very sad to see this once respected service deteriorated into a purely business model. Limited opportunities for study/career enhancement. Some great people still work at BC but most have seen the light and left

Pros

Family friendly hours

Cons

Workload, culture

Toxic workplace

Toxic place to work. No teamwork, residents aren't treated good behind closed doors. Management are rude and don't treat staff well. Staff are expected to complete heavy workload in unrealistic time frames. Often miss out on break times.

No where to progress to

Working in a small all female office with bad vibes. No chance of progression. Management seemed to have very little experience. No collaboration or leadership

Community nursing is so varied.

Learn heaps of new things in supportive environment. You'll get one on one training before you start to take on clients of your own. Can be isolated work, so good to make sure you catch up with the team for lunches etc. Communication via phone, email and teams. Plenty of variety in work.Pay is lower than hospital pay, but great salary packaging arrangements.

Pitiful, irresponsible, unsophisticated, clumsy, unfriendly, pathetic

Ill defined role. Irresponsible recruitment, inexperienced manager with zero people skills and obviously no people management skills. Management proactively encouraged “back stabbing” as a management tool. No idea. Just hopeless.

This company has one objective, get as much money from its clients whilst providing the bare minimum service in return

Company is focused on the dollar not care of its clients, employees are treated poorly considering they are the ones providing the care each day, consumable are restricted access and even if a client needs extra they must make do. Company wants big profits and is willing to sacrifice its staffs well being in reaching its goals.

Pros

Nothing worth mentioning

Cons

Nothing to speak nice about

RNs be clever to stay away from Bolton Clarke

I am nurse with 10 years of experiance. I moved to QLD and started job in this facility. Although I have previous experiance in aged care and hospitals, I could not stand the work load in this place. Severe staff shortage, cameras on the corridor to monitor you 24hrs, never ending medication rounds, unable to complete tasks and many more ,I had to run away from there. Stay away even if you are desparate for a job, you will get something better.

Pros

Residents are lovely.

Cons

Tiring job

Unfriendly staff

The residents are the reason I go to work. The facility is always understaffed but keep promising more staff. They don’t ever follow through with what they promise you.

Pros

Residential site manager is a fair boss.

Cons

Understaffed and way underpaid for the demand of work you do

Hardly any hours

All of the work was domestic cleaning. I was only given 4 clients a day. Was told they wanted a meeting with me as they had concerns, but I already reasigned the week prior to this (I had many concerns of my own.)Not a pleasant experience. No regular clients.

Pros

None I can think of

Cons

Hardly any hours

Nice customer service operators

get told by a team leader ( who is new to the role and still learning that it will all fall into place ) other staff members saying it took them about 3-6 months to pick it all up to then get told they don’t require you any longer after three weeks , team leaders are often busy doing there job and you feel bad for interrupting to ask a question , another Successful candidate leaving a few weeks later also saying the training was not good enough , and manager saying if they could have some one train me for four weeks would be perfect but can’t , invest in your staff , have a team leader who can walk the floor for new staff & is always available to ask questions , cso are very helpful thoe , trainer was lovely & very knowledgeable

Pros

Good money

Cons

Need more training

You'll regret it!

Weak management who allow bullies to attack staff and then when multiple staff leave can't see what that issue is with 1 staff member. Low work life balance . Low wages and do the job of 3.

Pros

Going home

Cons

Under paid, bullying, weak management

Toxic Culture and weak CEO

For an organisation in the care sector, the values of Bolton Clarke are misaligned with its purpose. A weak CEO, only interested in feathering his own nest and a massive ego to boot ensures the rot starts at the top and permeates throughout. Favouritism is rife and if you dare to speak up you are shown the door. The only good thing about it was the pay.

We take matters of bullying very seriously and if you'd like to discuss it further, we are here for you. Please call 1300 22 11 22 and ask to speak to our HR team. Thanks, Kate Milliken, Talent Acquisition Manager

Dreadful company to work for. Highly recommend that employees and clients look elsewhere to provide employment and community home care.

Very poor company to work for. PCW's are treated extremely low and certainly not valued by clinical and management staff. Absolutely no support from clinical and management staff. Rostering was a nightmare with so many constant changes with the rostering team. A no care attitude about clients relationship with care staff. Care staff looked down upon by clinical and management staff. Favouritism and brown noses within administration team and clinical team.

Pros

Lovely clients if you are able to remain on their run.

Cons

No support, poor pay, Little training, No trust, never listened to, gossips and rumours.

Overall a disappointing experience

I would not recommend working in community care unless you had another reliable source of income, the inconsistencies in shifts/clients was a let down as you would go into a day thinking you had X amount of clients and services would be cancelled at last minute leaving you short on both money and fuel. I loved my regular clients, but that's where it ends. I spent majority of my time working for Bolton Clarke as a cleaner, even though I am fully qualified as an individual support worker, if I wanted to be a cleaner I would have applied for a cleaning job. I found myself left out of the loop a lot when it came to rostering, turning up to clients and having them say they had cancelled their service yet they were still listed on my run. Communication, work-life balance and having a stable salary were not strong points of my experience, if you could not take on extra clients for whatever reason you'd be left wondering if your hours would be cut back. On a good day you could work a 9-10 hour day, but be paid for 6-7 hours of work as you'd only be paid for the time of the services and for the kilometres between each clients.

Cons

Below average pay, inconsistencies in shifts, little to no communication
