Good as a first job but not long term

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I’ve been here for 4 years and it’s been a great first job. For my area/franchise specifically it’s been super flexible with my work to life balance. but once you’ve worked your way up through all the positions, it gets repetitive and boring

Fun

Fun work place to work at with a fast pace environment and a great team. Worked well around or commitments due to short shift times. Would recommend for young people

Busy workplace

Great fun but management team needs to put more staff on, during rush hours and holidays. staff perks were cancelled too and staff treatment was appalling.

Poor management

Staff can be petty towards eachother ,but this can be caused because of poor management putting so much pressure onto their staff and overworking their staff I’ve worked at multiple boost stores and management has always over worked and been unloyal to their staff boost can be a fun place to work but the absolute lack of respect from management is not worth it that’s if they’re not slack enough to even hire a manager most stores will just make their team leaders act like managers.ruins their mental health overworked underpaid

Pros

Learning the recipes to make the smoothies at home lol

Cons

Everything else

Horrible

Underpaid and treated poorly by management. We were only given a 20% discount on original drinks which was the same as for other works in the centre I worked in.

Poor management

The job requires you to complete fairly simple and easy tasks however the managers and senior staff members are incredibly uptight and will complain and gossip about you behind your back if you are not up to their standards (not being successful in upselling each drink, not being fast enough when stocking the storeroom etc.). Workers were required to pay for their own drinks and no benefits were offered.

Good

Good workplace, looks like everyone enjoys working there, when it is busy it takes a long time to get my drink but it looks so good and great and amazing

Not worth it

It's an easy job all you do is make and serve the drinks but it gets difficult depending on how busy it gets. The experience depends on the management and store you work at. Barely got any hours as a casual employee and the pay is okay $21 for a 18 yr old. My co-workers were great but management was so toxic, and clearly has their favorites. At my store there were no benefits, had to pay for your own drinks.

Pros

nothing

Cons

management, poor hours, toxic

Fast-paced and fun workplace

Working here has taught me a lot about time-management, leading a team efficiently, and keeping calm in high pressure situations.

Not bad

Very easy job, mainly the people are nice enough. Your discount/free drinks depends on the store you work at, and the discounts don't necessarily transfer to all stores.

Fun and fast-paced, good first job

My experience at Boost has been pleasant. It does get busy especially during the summertime however you learn to keep on top of things. The job and making the drinks is relatively straightforward however there is a decent amount of cleaning.

fast paced environment

it was very fast paced, but overall cool people to work with so i wasn't complaining. pay is minimum wage at most places. managers were often questionable, they often take advantage of young workers, such as confiscating phones which was questionable

fun and fast

lovely crew and a fast work environment but easy once you get the hang of it. Mainly serving customers, making drinks and cleaning. Great first job or for uni.

Stressful with lots of pressure but easy work

You must work very fast, from storeroom runs to the lunchtime rush, everything must be done quickly. This is extremely stressful despite the job itself being straightforward. When I first started working there, they threw me into the deep end most of the time, with a quick demo of everything.

barely any training and cramp work space

a day at boost was very quiet unless it was a friday or saturday night other then that was very quiet, they offer a portal which has training but when i did mine they didnt give me a log in intill my training was due the night off which i had to do before my next shift which took a while, worst part of the job was it was very cramped in the little kitchen so there was alot of just standing around, dont know if it was just where i worked but they didnt tell me how much i got payed and told me once i had the job i also had to work at the service station apart of it. From when im typing this i have not been payed for 7 shifts which was 2 weeks ago overall ok job management is a little strange and they look for people to "entertain the customer"

Decent work environment

Good place to work at the time, owner was very helpful.Upper management was pretty average.Pay was about what you expect from a role where you do food prep and make juices.

Amazing coworkers, questionable management

Loved working with my coworkers, made very good friends. Pay is low and work can become stressful at times. Only recommend for young students looking for beginner money.

fun work, questionable management.

Not sure where to start here. Overall I enjoyed my time working at Boost, however to say it was perfect first job or that I'd recommend the company to others is a stretch. I was let go of due to a clash in availability, despite my efforts to arrange different days and hours. Unfortunately this place also treats young workers like they're disposable, probably because its a franchise. There were virtually no benefits (our branch did not give free things and the most we got was a couple cents off a full priced drink) and the pay was not equivalent to the amount of work that was expected of you. In fact, its the same (if not worse) than what a fast food place would pay you. The boss was this super intimidating dude, which was an interesting choice of management considering most Boost Juice employees are underage high school girls. Manager was great though. The only thing that really kept me going back was the vibey music and entertaining coworkers.

Pros

learning opportunity

Cons

disappointing pay with minimal benefits
