Productive and secure company to work for

Indeed Featured review

Good place to work for. The salary is pretty good and the opportunity for overtime is good bumping up the salary a bit. The company is is secure and as long you work hard you have a secure job.

Snake pit , extremely poor management, cruel expectations with no help from management, SAFETY=0 … culture is “shut up” get the job done or your fired

Beginning great job , great pay, wonderful management and everything gets doneAfter a few weeks you get to know ppl and start understanding the snake pit culture your in and how depressed and angry everyone is at BORAL management … (if not the hourly rate BORAL wouldn’t get anyone other than snakes)PPE that’s given is the cheapest you can find and most is inappropriate so useless and when I asked for appropriate PPE was ushered into higher managements office…safety =0Safety is important as long as you don’t complain and the customers get their product so BORAL can BILL them … safety =0All inductions are for “insurance lowering premiums” purposes…If your not willing to break the law don’t go there , they need drivers like there’s no tomorrow because it’s a constant revolving door (it’s unbelievable)

Kept me fit but money was not very good compared to other jobs I’ve seen

I wish I was looked after a lot more , having the kids one weekend , I would have liked to work every second Saturday but didn’t get much overtime since I stopped doing drum cleans , so I think overtime for me was put to a stop but I did drum cleans for 8 years and my body had enough . Paying rent and child support along with bills I couldn’t get ahead in life so I’ve given my two weeks notice and my last day is the 30th of March . I use to work really hard everyday for ten years . I just felt like I should have been looked after alot more

expected 40-60hrs per week but was lucky to get 18-22Bit clicky in the Batch plant with only 2 guys who had been there 17yrs

In the interview i was asked if i minded working long hours with Saturdays and if i had scales experience using a Loader? to which i said no. but willing to learn. Over the space of 2 weeks i got a total of 2, 8hr days, and a couple of days off, the rest were 4hr days. All up I made about 4 miscalculations on weight by sprinkling too much gravel or sand sometimes wet, into scales hoppers. After the 2 -3 weeks of this i was terminated because i was too slow. I thought i was doing well? Im not a super fast operator but fairly quick. There was no real coaching on technique, just watch me once or twice and replicate

Pros

fairly new machine

Cons

clicky, not enough hours

Very fun place

Honestly one of my best jobs by far, sad to have been fired due to a mistake I made unfortunately. But highly recommended them. You’ll feel very welcome and like you’ve worked there for years right from the start

Great place to work

Started off in concrete trucks for some years then moved onto a concrete batching role which I enjoyed. Good people to work with reasonable amount of overtime that went with the role . It’s a shame the management at the time couldn’t have been more upfront rather than going behind your back regarding changes. But in saying that the role was very rewarding and I enjoyed my time there. Would go back if an opportunity came up because you felt you were part of a team.

Pros

Good people, safety awareness

Cons

Middle management, honesty

Productive work place

Decent place to work but dont offer or honour permanent possitions after the 6th month period so no job security so you may need to look else where if your seeking a permanent possition

Pros

Good people to work with

Cons

End of shift cement mixer cleaning

Average employer...

I worked for boral as a casual agitator driver for approximately 15months, and I enjoyed doing the job, and liked most of the people that I worked with, and got on well with all the customers. But being a casual employee with boral for the stated period and obviously no chance of going full-time, and also going from around 30hrs a week to roughly 10pw? Well, no thanks, I quit....

Pros

Worked with some good people, tea and cakes

Cons

double standards

The other workers were good to work with

You have to be a suck up to get any recognition. Too many wannabes. Supervisors have no man management skills. A trained monkey could easily do their jobs. It's no wonder they go through so many employees

really good place to work

the work was hard but rewarding, the managers that have been there for a long time really know thier stuff and are hard but very fair, work hard and you'll get their respect

Nice Work Culture and Good Work Life Balance

Nice culture and good work life balance but it depends on team to team and how good or bad your manager is. Luckily, my manager was very understanding and we had good team environment. I was encouraged to give ideas and implement those to get things done quickly. Nice learning curve but there is no job security. During my time, I have seen many people come and go because of company's restructuring policy.

Sehr befriedigend Arbeitsort

Ich war sehr zufrieden mit der Firma BORAL AUSTRALIA in Sydney. Ich war bei der Firma Boral als Verkaufsrepräsentant für die Michelin LKW Reifen für ein Gebiet verantwortlich.

Work place that has a bullying culture and Management treat you like a number.

Boral are a company that treats it's people as numbers, I have had 17 years in different locations and positions and had a good time until around 5 years ago when management & culture changed. I recently lost my position after a OH&S problem on a (Boral) customers site and I made a mistake and owned it (to rectify problem so it did not happen to me or the other person involved or any body else). In end Worksafe got involved and a 500% increase was deemed necessary. I presented this to Boral (Victoria) and was fired because of it, Manager taped me unknowingly & with out my permission & admitted it in 2 nd interview and Boral will not supply me a copy of the recording or return my emails. 1st incident in 17 years of employment and I was told I have not met Borals "Values" but it seems taping and hiding it (during an interview) is with in Boral's "Values". I expected a written warning and would of been quite happy to own it. So Management can act a certain way but if you are not management expect to get fired if you can prove them to be not doing their job to the best of their ability. I feel they used the fine print to sweep an issue under the carpet to keep the contract with the customer instead of resolving the issue so feel let down by a company that says it has a big OHS&E culture and stands by it's workers.

Great company with strong policies and procedures in place.

4x4 shift roster was a really good even time roster to work. Work progression was there for the worker who actively asked for it. Lots of internal courses. Overall would not hesitate to work for or recommend this site and/or company.

Very good job.

Be calm , careful on the site snd road. No need to hurry. Because most of the mistakes are done when people donot pay attention. Take your time to prepair slump. Always open your eArs at work so you donot miss any wording or warning etc.

Great paying job and safety concious, trucks are well maintained. most of the drivers down south are always willing to help out where needed. The only issue is management.

Below average

Like the title says the job is below average working for Boral is hard work due to Upper and middle management making your life difficult although you know the job and have been doing the job forever absolutely no career opportunities other than the position your in and not necessarily any job security either

Good company to work for in the FIFO game. Aquarium

The little people (site crew) were the best part of all five projects I did with them. In my opinion, Most companies I've worked for, need to be more concerned with what's happening on the ground and less what's happening on the bottom line.

Pros

Good team attitude

Cons

Long rosters
