Facilities manager, and workplace health and safety (Former Employee) - Queensland - 6 July 2023
Time off for stress was strongly denied, However it depends on principle ,I had a team of 5 and the principal reduced it to 3 with nearly 1100 students and was not allowed to take my accrued holiday to cope with the stress
Cons
I was working 60 hours per week for 38 hours pay

Excellent processes, care for well-being and expertise at the top
Teacher (Current Employee) - Wide Bay-Burnett QLD - 5 May 2023
Working at CathEd has always proven to be a pleasure. Staff are happy and friendly. Teams are productive and look after each other. The learning is 100% effective because the standards set for leaders and staff is high and everyone is accountable through clear expectations, good professional development and genuinely good relationships with the students at the heart of every decision. All Catholic schools in Wide Bay set the bar high for some other schools who might look great and very affordable but barely practice what they preach.
Pros
Staff, students are lovely

Competitive and unacceptable behaviour
Community Liaison Officer (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 24 November 2022
Deep culture of bullying and intimidation. Needs a new culture training program. New employees not really welcome by long term staff. Quite unprofessional but pack culture is best description.

Not A Happy Place
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Dutton Park QLD - 21 October 2022
Most of the people are lovely. But not a happy working environment. Used to be a good place to work. It was like having a government position. You felt secure and valued in your job. Not now. And going to work every day not feeling valued or secure in your position makes for a very stressful environment.
Pros
Some really lovely people.
Cons
Very stressful place to work.

Excellent work culture. Staff are treated with respect. I feel like I am a valued member of the team. I learnt more about Catholic Education. The most enjoyable aspect of the job is working with students who love to learn!

Whilst it can be welcoming and open, each school is different. Head office and schools are run very differently from each other.
Work Health and Safety Officer (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 26 September 2019
As a school Officer working as a WHSO the pay is frightful. If I worked in head office doing this job I would be paid $50000 more. But we are on very basic wage and bring in $25_28k a year.
Most of the schools I work at are great and very friendly and welcoming.
Pros
Most people are great to work with
Cons
If in a school based position, school Officer pay is abominable

Very enjoyable to get back into the classroom once again after many years of administrative work.

The hardest part of the job was to bring myself up to date with some of the new technology used in today's classroom

students were beautiful, some teachers shouldn't be teachers
School Officer (Former Employee) - Burpengary QLD - 28 August 2017
Very rewarding work, the majority of students very thankful and lovely. Most teachers are dedicated, however, some shouldn't be in education. Brisbane Catholic Education can be a very nurturing environment for students. The hours are great for teacher aides, school hours. Good family and work life balance. Very diverse work, classroom, playground, library, assisting students academically and emotionally. Also with emotional support very rewarding.
Pros
the students, great hours for employees with families
Cons
some teachers not very nice people or good educators

Never enough time to complete all the work tasks.
