Bunnings is a good first time job offering young people a wide range of skills. Customers can be problematic however managers assist you when available.

Met some great people
Not enough team members on the shop floor.Weekly gap check makes the job mentally stressful.Too many family members were employed at the store.Some managers a very disrespectful in the way they talk to their team members.

Depends on store management
Some stores are awesome and some are just full of the deadweight management that the area managers are too afraid to sack. Can result in a hugely toxic work environment and even with multiple complaints to HR nothing gets done but a slap on the wrist and a slight demotion.

People are good but it's pretty understaffed
At most Bunnings stores there's an expectation to be friendly to each other and so new team member are usually welcomed pretty easily and not intimidated by long term staff. The pay for casuals is very good, especially if you're student, and unless you're a bad worker you're pretty much guaranteed hours so don't go on a contract unless you absolutely need it. Toxic management, decent pay
Overall, it can be decent if you have good managers. A lot of them seem to lack social awareness or training to deal with their employees, and this ends up creating quite a toxic workplace. If you’re a casual, don’t bother saying no to shifts - other shifts will be removed if you say no to anything.
