Just like a highschool - only at Bunnings!

The actual job is fun though with other teammates in the first few months however the fun vibe and teamwork is slowly dying and it’s all because the management team are all to blame.I’ve worked here for almost a year and the whole vibe is just dead now and not as great as it used to be.I’ve seen the best and most positive people that came and went over the most pathetic reasons and in droves too yet the horrible ones that stay have more rights or get promoted higher - Don’t even get me started about their high pay rates either. I've raised my concerns to management about workplace conditions, giving adequate direction and training multiple times and they didn’t give me full straight answer! So I assumed for the next few months I was made to believe I was doing ok in the department I was working in all by myself, then I was told otherwise at the very last minute. You're expected to know everything in your department with little to no training or guidance from anyone, not getting support from leaders when needed, being short staffed often and straight up favoritism of certain employees in their clique. You will get along with 75% of the other workers here that actually mind their business! but management and their favourite staff are definitely something else - Immature and high school like to say at the very least! If you are forced into customer support like I have, be prepared to be verbally abused by customers on a daily basis in front of managers who laugh and think this is rather entertaining to watch rather than intervene. Management is also about putting themselves -

Pros

Staff discounts, some good people, some days can be good

Cons

Look at the review above, this should explain why there are so many cons

Fast paced workplace

Been with Bunnings for over a year and a half now. The workload depending on time of day is quite high mainly due to staffing issues. However, it is a great place to work particularly if you have no previous experience and presents lots of opportunities for career growth if interested.

Bunnings Warehouse provides an excellent work environment with a supportive team, diverse tasks, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend it for a rewarding job experience.

Pros

Things have changed

Used to be a great place to work. Things have changed now. No growth or training anymore. People have become numbers and management don’t care about the staff or don’t have the resources to support the team.

Great opportunity as far as retail goes

Honestly a really fun work place. Dealing with angry customers can be tricky though - you learn a lot about customer service and communication skills.

Okay to work at

Management isn’t the best, bit of a hierarchy. Customers can also really ruin your day but that’s everywhere I guess. Bonuses and staff discount were about the only plus

Amazing team

Love working with great people and helping people find what they need, every day there’s something different to do and customers trust you for the service you give them

Can be fun but also very demanding

While I enjoyed my time at Bunnings I found that it was a very demanding job. Managers never seem to be happy with the amount of work you did and always pushing for more. Never enough staff on in the one department when its busy but still expected to serve customers, have stocked replenished and aisles kept clean and tidy. If you could not get it all done you would be questioned as to what you did through your shift. Pay is good but you didn't get paid any o.t, it was considered bank of hours which you could take time off at a later date. Unfortunately that system never worked in my favour

Fun and relaxed environment

Heaps of opportunity to learn new skills while also making new friends. A typical shift would last around 4-6 hours depending on how busy the day is. However, lots of lifting and standing is needed.

Pros

great work culture

Cons

Lifting and standing for long hours

Cons

Temperature in the stores.

Great company and people - slow management decisions

Relaxed, happy workplace which is generally supportive and caring. Work quality is high. No arrogance. People are highly skilled and culture is down to earth. Expectations are high and you only stay if you make the grade. Opportunities for progression can be limited but training is encouraged.

Fun Place to work with Amazing Team and Free Coffee & Internet.

Bunnings Working culture is different from other Retails store. We work as a Team including our coordinators and Store Manager and Operations Manager.I have learned and gained a vast knowledge in my 9 years of service.

Pros

Community BBQ's, Team meetings, Pizza Nights

A company that promotes inclusion/ family/ work life balance

Everything it stands for is rubbish, they don’t follow through and then they go to the book of excuses. No job security even as a permanent employee, you may be permanent but your hours can change with a days notice ( sometimes less) and if you don’t comply then they’ll find away to get rid of you ( your hours that they agreed on no longer suit the business needs, so tuff luck ) obviously it’s a store by store issue, it’s a pretty common issue and management couldn’t care less

Pros

Discounts

Cons

Long hours, irregular hours, lack of management support, too many chiefs who are in competition with each other and all the little people are just ants

Great as long as you have a good manager

greta place to work for, good job prospects branching with and from bunnings so long as you work in the city, can be difficult to get a promotion, however most colleagues are great and the job is pleasant so long as you have a good store manager.

Big Company, but big fun

I found Bunnings to be a great place to work. I moved houses a couple of times during my tenure with them, and they helped me to transfer into different departments and different stores to make my commute less troublesome. It can be daunting with lots of levels of management, but the team and culture are pretty awesome. Also, who doesn't like a snag! The money is decent, the share package is great for long time team members, and it's a pretty easy place to work. By that I mean, it's not difficult to go to work and spend time with friends whilst performing work tasks.

Pros

Constant fun and things like themed days, and free lunches etc.

Cons

Retail can be difficult over holiday periods, and there are too many layers of management.
