Positive work culture, useless managment
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Victoria - 20 September 2023
I've worked here for almost a year and I'm sick to death of it. I've complained about workplace conditions to management multiple times and nothing has been done about it. You're expected to put up with missing out on breaks, not getting support from leaders when needed, dodgy registers that break, being short staffed often and straight up favoritism of employees. You will get along with 98% of the other workers here but the way it feels, you're seen as a nobody if you don't work in a department. If you work in customer support, you will be verbally abused by customers on a daily basis with little support and no room to grow. I expect to resign very soon if things don't change.
Pros
Friendly co-workers, good pay, staff discount
Cons
Useless management, no support when needed, short staffed

Management
Trade Customer service/ Floor Team (Former Employee) - West Ipswich QLD - 4 July 2023
Don’t bother asking managers about help with mental health. They’ll laugh and dismiss all issue and continue to not care about your health. They say they care about your health and constantly say it’s important- the second you mention it, they don’t care even when you’re a 17year old that’s on the verge of ending things due to the work environment. G4’s think they have the right to bully younger team members.
Pros
Union workers
Cons
Bad management, bully G4’s, mental illness isn’t cared about.

Bunnings is a good first time job offering young people a wide range of skills. Customers can be problematic however managers assist you when available.

Customer Service Team Member (Current Employee) - Taree NSW - 18 January 2023
Garbage company to work for. All about who you know or are related to in a small town to get any hours. City stores might be different. Apply elsewhere cause you will regret it.

Not as good as it looks
Customer Service Team Member (Former Employee) - Cannon Hill QLD - 22 December 2022
Worked at bunnings for 13 years been an older person I thought it would be good for me well I was so wrong no respect for older team members never got listened to work load got heavy as years went on , I stayed because I knew I would not get hired else where because of my age , management got worse as years went on , worked lots of nights and week ends ,young people would get preferred, ended up with depression and no one care I eventually left for my own health . I would not recommend for a career at Bunnings part time while looking for another job ok
Pros
Nothing
Cons
No respect it’s all about getting stuff done

Long time from interview to start working
Customer Service Officer (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 12 September 2022
Good discount, management definitely have their purple circle people, lots of online training for your personal development, get to help customers across all sections of the store which is fun, variety of hours to work within.

Generally a good place to work as a uni student
Customer Service Team Member (Current Employee) - Wollongong NSW - 29 August 2022
The team and work culture are great. Casual pay is great for retail, however, there is a considerable drop in wage when you transition to part-time/full-time. Management are either great or bad. No inbetween.

Great team members, good discounts
Customer Service Team Member (Current Employee) - Hawthorn - 30 June 2022
Good place to work, work colleagues are great. Management can be a mixed bag (Currently have a very good Coordinator). Good discounts, work pace varies between very busy and relaxed/steady. Can be busy when not enough team members rostered on.

Brilliant place to work fantastic training and support
Team Member Customer Service (Part Time) (Former Employee) - Waurn Ponds VIC - 22 May 2022
Really loved my time at Bunnings Waurn Ponds. Incredible team culture where management really care about team members and all staff support each other. Wish I could have stayed, but family financial requirements unfortunately meant I had to take up another employment option. Really hope to go back and rejoin in the future.
Pros
Everything

helped me build work experience in customer service and develop knowledge of products and trades
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 5 April 2022
It was a learning experience for me, in terms of DIY knowledge and product knowledge for a wide array of jobs. The management wasn't good however, they would push employees out of their position if you weren't viewed as competent enough; rather than training the individual. There were cliques in the team however I did develop great friendships too.

Changing culture
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Various - 21 March 2022
I have worked for Bunnings for a number of years now and have seen a real shift in the culture of the business. Once a fun and positive place to work is now demanding and often understaffed causing a lot of unhappy customers and team. Such a shame.
