Carlton & United Breweries is a very busy business that is always looking to improve it's functionality and strive to be the best in what they do. The people who work there are the most important part of the job. You need to be an independent hard worker to fit in to the culture.

Great company but if you are not part of the "in crowd" don't expect to ever have your annual leave approved.

Also absolutely no union and any talk of it is stamped out.


If employed part time don't ever expect a full time opportunity because its never going to happen.

My role was to develop and implement program's to enhance capability that enabled the delivery of the commercial strategy.

Role focused on designing, building, deploying and embedding blended learning programs to increase core competencies. (2 Capability Managers)


Strong alignment to the Learning and Development as well as Sales and Marketing teams


Required constant Stakeholder Management, biggest challenge was transforming learning from face to face to blended learning opportunities under the guidance of 70/20/10 principles


We had a leadership team that was fully committed to people development and fully supported the leader led learning principle, this provided a platform for developing individuals skill sets and also embedding behavioural change


Strong focus on coaching to embed leanings


Deploying programs across a national platform was the most rewarding part of the role. Great opportunity to use my sales experience and to work with people at all levels of the organisation. Seeing people take the leanings back into the real world was also very rewarding.


In summary, CUB has a great people development culture, built on leader led and coaching principles, strong leadership that fully supports and drives capability that enables change, transformation and growth. (both individual and organisation)

Awesome pay-rates, terrible shifts as it is On-Call Casual through Labor hire ONLY, only way to progress or advance your position in this company is to (on the manufacturing floor) be related/or dating a managers daughter/son...

no lifestyle outside due to the fact your ON-CALL 24/7


many a time i'd try to spend the day with my 5 kids and or partner, and BAM.. you need to start as soon as you can get here..


BUT.. the money is really good...

Great pay-rates, the other workers are generally friendly and helpful and on-site chef/cafeteria..
Cons
no social life or home life (for the family man) when it's running hot, no work when it's down season(yes it's seasonal)

Worst culture ever. No one seemed to have any incentive to do well and it was like working in a morgue full of dead people. Lifeless. No fun. Everyone just going through the motions to justify getting paid. Ugggghh!!

Typically long hours spent alone in the car, lots of customer face to face interaction, lots of good perks and a good management team.
Recognition for effort was well balanced however sometimes could go unnoticed for regional roles as they were not as exposed/visible to management.

Good money,good place to work. I'd still be there if I didn't move 2 hrs away. They do great Christmas party's,have an excellent canteen that is excellent with prices.

Great place to work. Young vibrant culture. Learnt to manage a variety of staff. Managed the staff bar, pulled beers and maintained the facility. Duties were varied and could be challenging depending upon demand, was able to pickup time management skills..

Hardest part of job was saying no to customers out of hours requests when run out of glasses or coasters and delivering them after hrs and weekends.

Most enjoyable, social life with colleagues and fun customers, being part of a team.

We brew some of Australia’s most famous beers, including Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, Cascade, Crown Lager, Melbourne Bitter, Pure Blonde, Foster’s, Matilda Bay, as well as ciders including Strongbow, Mercury, and Bulmers.


CUB originally formed in 1907 as Carlton & United Breweries, the name we still hold today. In 2011, we became part of the SABMiller group, the second largest brewer in the world, returning to our heritage and core strength as a brewer.

Having worked for CUB over the last 28 years l gained a wealth of experience and made long time friends. Fantastic company to work for, always supportive and dedicated to providing a great product.
The most enjoyable part of the job was all the courses l took part of such as beer tasting and brewing fundamentals.

Having worked at Foster's and CUB over many years i can say that for the most part it was a great learning experience. No day was the same and although project work was difficult and sometimes very stressful it was always rewarding.

• Typical day would be collating the night shift information ready for the morning meets
• Learning is always an ongoing process, tolerance and leadership is one of my learning curves

• Management have got empathy towards the staff and will help out where possible

• Co-workers know is what to be expected and will support

• Hardest part of the job is to make shop floor employees understand that work ethics count on the job and that you can’t get what you want at a blink of an eye
