I was a Volunteer.
Volunteer (Former Employee) - Belmont Qld - 10 December 2019
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI was a Volunteer.
I helped with picking up Clients, a mix of elderly and Disabled.
We would have morning tea at the centre, and then quite often go out somewhere for lunch, and come back to the centre before taking the Clients home.
Due to a company restructure, I and other Volunteers are no longer required.

This company will ruin your life, your reputation and your entire future / career
Residential Disability Support Worker (Former Employee) - Whyalla - 6 January 2023
If you don’t fit in here you’ll immediately be ganged up on, workers group up to report people for anything and everything or make up false claims just so they don’t have to work with you anymore or to simply score some overtime. They have no regard for your personal life and will expect you to live and breathe the job while then throwing you aside without a care in the world. The workers are toxic and nasty. The management is horrible and will take sides of more “popular” staff rather than remaining neutral and making choices that benefit the clients. I can’t name one positive thing about this company other than the beautiful clients.
Pros
Beautiful clients
Cons
Everything, look elsewhere

Disability Support Worker (Former Employee) - Whyalla SA - 10 May 2022
Senior management are awful to clients and new staff. Staff in whyalla wear highly inappropriate clothing and call cops regularly on clients for minor complaints and issues with the clients. Avoid at all costz

Poor management
Peer Support Worker (Former Employee) - Port Adelaide SA - 27 March 2022
Culture of bullying. Management will not assist or intervene to resolve conflict. Poor work life balance, you will most definitely take work home with you.

Great place to work and good managers
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 17 December 2021
They have good clients, if you don't feel confident working with a participant you can inform your manager and you get more training. They are good in terms of training staffs

Centacare Catholic Family Services.
Teaching Assistant (Former Employee) - Ballarat VIC - 10 July 2021
It is quite shocking to know that an organisation that relies on volunteers in its Teaching Literacy and Numeracy program chooses to outsource jobs. The people in charge of running the aforementioned program are so heavily reliant on volunteers that a Catholic Nun who has had a stroke had to carry the weight of the burden.
Pros
Free Tea and Coffee.
Cons
Heavily Reliant on Volunteers, Outsource Jobs without Offering to Employ Volunteers.

Jobs at Centacare Catholic Family Services
Good professional staff who cared about their clients.
Mental Health Support Worker (Former Employee) - Stones Corner QLD - 28 December 2020
Worked as a casual support worker. They had a great system of buddying you up with another experienced worker to allow you to get to know the clients and their needs. Pretty full-on pace to keep up with as you travelled to different clients and locations daily .Keeping up with paperwork and transfer onto clients' computer records could have been allocated more time. I enjoyed my time there. The staff were professional and caring.
Pros
Good work culture
Cons
Too much admin work and not enough time to do it.

Family friendly workplace
Administration Assistant (Current Employee) - Adelaide City Centre SA - 3 January 2018
This is a great organisation to work for. Most of the staff create a warm and friendly environment. The managers are caring and flexible. The salary sacrifice option is rewarding.
Pros

I believe to hold a position is the Social Service sector should always be client focused, however did not find this the case with Centacare.
CASE MANAGER (Former Employee) - Adelaide Metro SA - 6 November 2017
Working along side of clients could be very challenging, however in saying this absolutely rewarding.
I learned appreciating my life and assisting those that were not so fortunate for what ever the circumstance in their lives at present I was there to support, assist and most importantly to empower all persons from different walks of life.
I believe upper management was not always client focused.
Continuity for funding or lack of it, is a large part of the role.
Working alongside of clients to empower, support and assist.
Empowering others to make informed decisions and positive choices in their lives.
