Toxic! Very cliquey. Store staff refer to head office as unqualified and only hired if they look the part to senior management. Then working in head office I found that is totally true. You only get ahead by playing the part and not by knowledge.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at City Beach Australia? What are the steps along the way?
Completed the online stage and then got emailed that my application was successful. Had my interview in the back room of the shop. About 2 other people were there in that session. You're given a form to fill out about your availability, with a big page long extended response on your best customer experience and how you could use that experience and apply it yourself when working at city beach. Interview was pretty casual, with questions like "why do you want to work at city beach" and "how would your friends describe you". it only lasted a few minutes which was good. you then have to wait for an email saying whether you were successful or not. after you get that email you have to do all these online lessons, and then after that you dont really hear from them for ages but eventually you get a text or phone call confirming your shifts.
What would you suggest City Beach Australia management do to prevent employees from leaving?
Upper management/HR to take their duty of care for their employees more seriously. Resolve issues fairly instead of sweeping them under the rug. Treat team members with respect.
Honestly just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. They have no policy on what you wear as long as it’s not too revealing. Show your personality and wear something that makes you feel confident.
After you accept the online job submission, they will call you a few days before your first shift. I had to wait about 2 weeks before they called so don’t panic if they don’t straight away. Otherwise you can go in store and check the roster that is posted on the wall out the back. It’s a fortnightly roster so you get a good idea of the shifts coming up. However be prepared for them to call you up with extra shifts
