Communication needs work

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Good place to work but communication needs work. There is a lot of bypassing of process and people trying to go over heads to get their way. Typical government job I guess.

If you're not 'in' with the in crowd, they will make your life hard and unpleasant.

I should of moved on to other job opportunities as soon as possible. Opportunities to advance are very few and far between. You will end up going crazy if you stay there too long.

Pros

You will enjoy looking for a new job.

Cons

Management change their mind every 2 seconds.

Executive Management poor

CASA has the ability to be a great place to work, however, the senior executive management team are extremely lacking in their ability to be open and honest with staff. They say one thing but secretly have a hidden agenda that causes great animosity with staff.

Pros

Government benefits

Cons

no direction - job uncertainty

Excellent team, interesting work

Position consisted of assessing licensing application including Class/Type ratings instructor ratings, operational ratings and ARN applications. Transitioning licences from old CAR 5 to new Part 61 regulations. Liaison with pilots, instructors and examiners, phone and email correspondence and Data entry. Excellent managers and a great team to work with.

Cons

Lack of progression

Friendly co-workers - provide stability

A very great place to work. The work can be challenging and interesting at the same time. Co-workers are lovely, a great place to meet new friends. The income is very generous and the hours are great enabling time spent with family and other commitments - family orientated. This company provides stability.

Pros

Family orientated - great hours

Cons

No room for movement

Passionate people. Difficult position - btw operators and Gov

Performed a variety of roles at CASA - education specialist, inspector, manager. Helped aviation operators develop their processes and approaches - in Australia and internationally. Developed and lead the implementation of world-class aviation standards. Represented Australia at aviation arm of UN (ICAO). I grew from novice to recognised authority on area of interest - for which I am grateful. Management and co-workers largely passionate about safety and aviation. Difficult balance between supporting and enforcing safety outcomes. Helping our Asian friends develop modern effective safety practices was my most enjoyable achievement.

Pros

Opportunity to help others develop, and through this develop ourselves

Cons

Individual's passion for safety development sometimes leads to differential outcomes
