Good if you are studying full time but no security
Crew Member (Former Employee) – Brisbane QLD – 3 July 2019
Pay is really good. At 18 years old and as a casual you receive 18 dollars an hour usually, on Saturdays 21 an hour and on Sundays 27 an hour. I worked in the online department and it is very easy to pick and continue to do. Can get very boring and mundane as it is a very simple job with no real challenges. It is also very physically challenge: lots of lifting, bending, pushing heavy carts and packing bags. The hours are the worst part of this job. Your roster will be released and you'll receive 25 hours then check it again in three days and you suddenly have 8.5 hours and given no warning it has changed. Your shifts will also be canceled hours beforehand which really throws you for a loop. If you are studying and can handle the constant inconsistency of the hours, I think this job is perfect for you. It's very easy to walk and just do it as its a simple task. But if you are looking for consistent, long hours with a challenge this job isnt for you.
Pay, people, free food in the crew room
Inconsistent hours, hours are cut without notice, boring job

Working in a supermarket is always fast-paced. I worked in a number of different departments but I think the most enjoyable was the deli. On service you are pretty much confined to a small area, but in the deli you are always moving around and doing a variety of tasks which is easier on the body and mind.

Its a great environment to work in. Most of the team members are easygoing and great to work with. Management is great and they make a point of getting to know a little about you and where you’d like your career to go.
Deli Manager (Current Employee) – Melbourne VIC – 8 August 2018
I have worked for coles twice and both times have been very different. I worked in Hobart as a duty manager and in Melbourne as a Deli manager. Melbourne pays a lot more. In TAS I was on 65k and in VIC I'm on 75k. You can make good money but you'll work a lot of hours for free.
Lovely place to work, wrong people get rewarded and other get the benefits

Great Team members to work with but unrealistic expectations sometimes
Stock Filler (Current Employee) – Brisbane Central Business District QLD – 4 July 2018
Not too bad, great people to work with but sometimes management can push unrealistic expectations, apart from that its pretty good. Pay is also pretty good but the new EBA means new employees are actually paid less that existing employees most of the time.
Great people to work with
Sometimes unrealistic expectations from management
