Stressful environment.
Ongoing Prison Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Lara VIC22 April 2018
Job description of a Supervisor has changed over the last few years due to reforms ie Parole Board decisions after high profile media cases. Youth Justice also playing a large role in this and the high amount of Remandee's and Protection Prisoners incaserated. Due to this so many incidents of Self Harm, suicide, assault not just prisoner on prisoner but statt assaults also.
Pros
Ongoing work, this industry is never going to close.
Cons
Night Shift, Assaultative behaviour by inmates increasing. Less staff to deal with more prisoners.

Challenging role.

Being a case manager is definitely not for everyone as it is a very challenging role but has its benefits. You can see the positives impact you are having in peoples life.

Working with prisoners and providing the facility to rehabilitate themselves. Providing a stable routine and assisting other staff in providing security and good order of the facility.

A typical day at work for me would be processing stake holders into the prison or controlling traffic in and out of prison , l never stop learning , l understand management s job is to save money as it is a government job. the hardest part of the job would be dealing with management , the most enjoyable part of my job is the people l work with .
