Great place to work
Good team, loads of OT and nice colleagues. The academy is fun and the agency pays you to complete your cert 3. Loads of clients and ever changing environment but that the industry

Depends on leadership
Experience varied… it really depended on the executive leadership structure- and being emplyed at grade 5/6, 8 and even 9/10 positions- my experience varied each time- sadly resulting in my departure because of constant leadership changes and lack of support from other middle managers who became silo’d.

Hardworking environment with no support from management
No support from your managers, always struggling to allow stuff to better themselves. Very little guidance and training on the job, strong environment for senior staff to bully junior staff

Upper management don’t have a realistic understanding of the pressures placed on officers on a day-to-day basis.
I wouldn’t look at Community Corrections for a long term career as the vicarious trauma is heightened the longer you’re there. Although management profess that they are there to assist with mental health, in reality you’ll be pushed to the point of despair, so you end up leaving instead of getting the assistance required. It’s a paramilitary organisation and you’re just a number unfortunately.
