Depends on project
Commercial (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 21 July 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorkplace cultures varies from project to project. Generally you have access to interesting projects and work alongside switched on individuals. However, the company is somewhat traditional and corporate systems can feel archaic. For grads and undergrads, talent may be exploited. For senior leadership, there may be unnecessary politics at play.

Highly Reputed company to work with but needs improvement in Employee Advancement.
Site Engineer (Former Employee) - Coffs Harbour NSW - 9 April 2023
Tier 1 company- Good workplace to start the career. The project I worked for had poor management. Hardest part of the job was to understand my scope in the project. It was really hard to convince the management for the internal transfer as per my project preferences.
Pros
Tier 1 company
Cons
Long hours, NO work life balance, NO work advancements as per your preferences.

Ironbridge was a great project to work at with CPB. Plenty of support from management, tough conditions up there at Marble Bar but they managed it really well

Interesting Place
Project Engineer (Current Employee) - brisbane - 3 July 2022
I really didn't know what each day would entail and because I never brown nosed or did not take well to being spoken rudely by some as often was the case I did not progress as I would have liked. That aside I enjoyed the work, was anxious to learn and in turn did not mind sharing tips and knowledge I'd learnt along the way to persons even greener than myself.

Management very approachable
Operator (Former Employee) - Pilbara WA - 10 April 2022
As with all big companies the work culture and atmosphere is usually generated by management then flows on down. I personally thought the management for South Flank project had a reasonable open door policy, very approachable for any personal issues or conflicts. Supervisors at the time not over the top with micro management altho very present most of the time. Our safety management team backed us every time we accidentally upset the client. Stupidity mostly forgiven but wilful damage or destruction a window seat. I enjoyed my 2yrs with CPB and would definitely consider another project with them.
Pros
Very proactive with personal leave for any issues
Cons
Money average

High Stress and Low Pay
Civil Site Engineer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 16 March 2022
Lots of big infrastructure project, so there's some job security. However you could be made redundant if there are huge delays that's out of company's control.
Pros
Mega Project Experience
Cons
Long Hours and Low Pay

Like anywhere u go, it’s about the people u work with.
Machinery Operator (Former Employee) - Southflank wa and robe valley - 15 December 2021
We had a good team so that makes things easier. I’d work for cpb anytime as long as I’m given clear directions and a clean machine. The bosses were good and they didn’t have to babysit me. My direct workmates were good and for the most part everyone seemed to get along.

OPERATOR (Former Employee) - Southflank sfmac - 23 February 2021
I spent over 28 months as a operator engaged in detailed and bulk earthworks..the last 10 locked into the state of wa most of it on a 52 days on 4 off roster ..being a qld refugee ,cpb management excelled in their manner and level of support ie accom, food, isolation cost of hotel ..I found management extremely approachable with issues that may arise always helpful...the majority of the supervisors were on their game professional and approachable.. my work colleagues also being one of the tightest experienced and friendly groups iv had the pleasure to work with over the last decade ..the whole covid thing was a pain in the a.s but is what it is...overall a good experience ..
Pros
Cpb support, work colleagues and outlined examples
Cons
Covid exile, hotel isolation (got fatter)lol

think twice
Senior (Former Employee) - QLD - 5 February 2021
after working for this outfit for 3 years I must say to anyone considering a role offered by them to really think twice. when you have down that sit down and do it again. When you get to the point that there is absolutely no choice, give yourself an uppercut then hold on tight for a bumpy ride.
Pros
$$ they do pay the market rate although they are squeezing this now
Cons
Management personnel

Expect loyalty & you get nothing back in return
Mechanical Fitter/ Testing Technician (Former Employee) - Western Downs Regional Council QLD - 8 November 2020
Change your roster & shift hours to suit them & you get nothing in return. Say they are family oriented, but you spend more time @ work & less with family
Pros
Camp life
Cons
No organization

Working in head office can be a disadvantaged
Human Resources (Former Employee) - North Sydney NSW - 19 October 2020
Depending on your role and your manager it can be a good company to work for. However if you work in head office you don’t have an opportunity to grow only on projects.
Pros
You can make good friends
Cons
Management
