Area Manager. The position itself is great, lots of variety in day to day tasks, no micromanagement, opportunity to learn, form relationships with growers and network within the Ag industry. Opportunities to learn by attend field days, conferences, lectures and workshops etc., however, this is usually self driven and not organised by the company. Internal training is usually very one sided, often different from the next person giving the training, always promotes how great CSBP is and involves lots of box ticking, particularly regarding general training and OH&S. There is flexibility to drive sales in your area in unique ways, but this has to be individually driven and won’t receive a great deal of support from Kwinana. If you are doing your job properly, there will be some extremely long working hours in busy times, this was previously balanced well by flexible working hours and ability to take owed time off at your discretion. Working hours is as needed and not recorded, which recently has become less flexible, with time off having to be recorded as annual leave. Lots of backtracking in verbal agreements, so I’d suggest getting everything in writing. The business culture is poor, management is heavy at the top in Kwinana, disjointed and egotistical. Complete lack of proactive decision making by management, leads to the lame issues arising year after year. Issues that the field staff are blamed for and left to deal with.
