Uncommunicative & poor work life balance

Depends on your location you work at with the company, whether the workplace is enjoyable or not.But the HR team have a lack of communication with anyone & aren't always specific in their job ad's.They do not provide a good work life balance.

Best thing I did was leave

One piece of advise is to avoid the place. Especially if you apply for a customer service role under Direct to Market at Number 5. The so called National Service Manager is the rudest person ever. She talks down to everyone like they are stupid and all she does is talk behind you back. Avoid at all circumstances!!! Everyone is scared to raise anything about her as she will probably fire you.

Not a great place to work

I worked at DHL for 4 weeks. I worked in the administration department doing Data Entry. I got the job after applying through an agency in which I had to pass 2 interviews and a typing test. All for a job which paid almost minimal wage and wasn't permanent. The office itself is massive and there are multiple departments within the office. I noticed straight away that team morale was low as nobody was allowed to talk with each other, even if all the work was done we were told to sit there silently. Dinner breaks were timed, toilet breaks were timed, also with the dinner breaks, we had to take them separately, I think they did this as a way of not forming a bond with the people you work with. The turnover was staff was quite high and people would leave week in week out and then were replaced by new casual staff. There didn't appear to be much room for career advancement. You could either be a data entry person or a head data entry person. I think the fact that even if you did all your work and had to sit there in silence was a bit daft. Internet usage was also banned along with phones even though the internet was on each computer and wasn't blocked. I remember in hindsight I should have applied to work in the warehouse at DHL because although they are busy, the team morale appeared to be much higher and the staff looked happier than what we were.

Good workplace

Great place to meet great people. Has great systems in place - diversity of people in the company is great. Learned many things and different areas of transport. Hardest part would be longevity of being in the business.
