The facility is now being managed and operated by Corrections Victoria and is called the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre after the well-known campaigner for women prisoners. In the 1950s, Dame Phyllis Frost persuaded the State Government of the day to set up a Consultative Council for Female Prison Reform. Until her death in 2004, she worked tirelessly with governments, prison administrators and non-government agencies for improved conditions, rehabilitation and education for women in prisons.

Easy going place to work for retirement
Enjoyed my time at DPFC. The skills learned were basic during training and the work was simple enough to learn. Positive group of team members and varied stations to work. Shift work however took a drain, depending on whether you worked 10 hour shifts or 12 hour shifts. Sometimes it felt over staffed for the job. Not much paperwork compared to other jobs

It's a job for the right type pf people
It was interesting and an eye opener, hours were good but the rotating shifts and the arvo and night shifts didn't suit my life style. The culture was ok and all the officers had your back if there was an issue within the compound. On the other hand th...

Higher Duties as Supervisor in Deer Park VIC
on 22 April 2018

Women in custody have a high rate of Personality Disorder and Self Harm, making this a very stressful and busy location. As Duty Supervisor continually having to organise Ambulance Escorts with Sta...
