The most useful review selected by IndeedLocation is stunning. Sunrise from staff accommodation can be mind blowingly beautiful. Staff meals were very hit and miss. Great place to meet new friends.

Bad management
Restaurant Manager (Former Employee) - Whitsunday Islands QLD - 1 December 2023
The island is beautiful, nature amazing, but management was very bad. Staff meals not great and staff accomodation outdated. Not sure if I would go back as a worker

F&b
F&B Attendant (Former Employee) - 3 restaurants - 8 March 2022
Literally my worst hospitality experience, I quitted the industry after this. Long hours not enough money, they even "make mistakes" with the amount of hours you did.

Ok
Labourer - Full Time (Former Employee) - Queensland - 6 April 2020
Not sure it was ok I helped with the other workers with different type of work that they wanted me to help with like, giving them tools and just being told when to do it and how to do it.

Inventory Controller (Former Employee) - Whitsunday Islands QLD - 14 May 2019
This is a great environment with a lot of potentials.
Management is friendly.
You get a lot of training.
They are not afraid of investing in their employees.
They go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Pros
Meal and transport subsidies
Cons
Cyclones

fun work place with a fun vibe
Kitchen hand/ Bar attendant/ Wait (Former Employee) - Whitsunday Islands QLD - 15 May 2018
over all each day would start with walking across the island witch was good might i say to witch ever kitchen you were assigned to and then you would start to set up or packing depending on what time your shift started . I learned all about safe food handling and most of the steps to a healthy well working kitchen . I also learnt how to speak and deal with customers in a professorial manner . A very enjoyable part of the jobs way the location and the amount of new people i would get to meet from all around the world and the hardest part would have been working so far way from my family and friends.
Pros
working on a beautiful island
Cons
having your work life and personal life as one

Island living is good
2IC Food & Beverage Manager (Former Employee) - Daydream Island QLD - 26 January 2018
Small in comparison to the other whitsunday islands, closer to the mainland though. Great fun, average pay but plenty of staff social events help to make you feel at home when living in the staff quarters (old resort).
Facilities for staff and guests alike are fairly outdated and in need of some serious TLC. Other than that, great place to work.
Pros
Staff
Cons
lack of facilities

Staff accommodation had bedbugs
Room Technician (Former Employee) - Whitsunday Islands QLD - 8 May 2017
If bedbugs are your thing go for it, but the jobs on this island are high turnover. If you quietly complain about bedbugs because you need to walk into resort rooms and are worried that they might spread they will deny it and find a reason to get you next boat off the island.
Pros
Its an Island Life
Cons
BedBugs, Bad Managment

Island life
Lifeguard and Activities (Former Employee) - Airlie Beach QLD - 8 June 2016
It was a short experience and leaned very little but overall I did find job rewarding. However management was poor and the organisation plus food on sight was horrible

Island Resort - family friendly - on site housing
Demi Poissonnier, Garde Manger (Former Employee) - AU - 2 May 2016
Family resort in great barrier reef area - awesome environment - grueling pace of resort. Very busy but rewarding. 9am-9pm workdays - buffet service, catering, weddings, fine dining. Indoor outdoor outlets. Hardest part was a constantly rotating staff.
Pros
Tropical Island - wildlife
Cons
Limited travel

Great place to meet new people
Food and Beverage Attendant (Former Employee) - Whitsunday Islands QLD - 12 April 2016
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on the island. I was fortunate enough to work at the a la carte restaurant which was steadily getting better reviews whilst I was working there. The management weren't easy to please, even when we did exceed expectations but I couldn't say a bad word against the kitchen, bar and front of house team.
Pros
cheap/good accommodation, good salary
Cons
management

While I was working there I caught up with friends on the boat trip over there and every day was different some days I was looking after weddings and some days I was just doing my normal tasks
I learnt a lot when I was there and the managers showed me some great tips on how to be a better worker and there ended up been my close friends
Pros

I had to replkace my work shoes every month

Lovely Island
Porter (Former Employee) - Airlie Beach, Australia - 30 March 2016
Lovely Island though in desperate need of a makeover.
Work was on/off.
A typical day was meet and greet guests arriving onto the island and delivering luggage to there rooms.
Management needs work but co workers where a great help.
The hardest part of the job was delivering bags in a timely manner with large groups.
Pros
Live and work on a tropical island in the Whitsundays
Cons
Constant work, management
