Do not work for them
rider (Former Employee) –  Sydney NSW16 June 2018
Evil that only hires students and work visa backpackers as cheap labor. There are no worker benefits. It might be ok for a pocket money gig on the afternoon if you have nothing better to do, but poor as a career.

They send you to ridiculous places with long wait times and very far distance between customers with no explanation nor apology. They pay commission only for a rate that has been getting lower and lower, it was initially $10 a delivery, then they changed that to 9$, then forced people to reregister at $7.

they are not welcomed here
Pros
nothing
Cons
manager is a twit, dangerous low pay work that forces people to do overtime and weekend shifts

Was once a good company but when bias and racism comes it turned worst and when you ask to relocate they will reduce your possibility to get orders. Plus they don't care about their employees.

Marketing Assistant/ Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Melbourne VIC27 July 2017
Deliveroo is very good company to work if you are part of the management team or in the back office. It has a very good workplace culture and you can tell people love what they are doing.

You can say the same regarding the riders conditions, although they are essential in their business model they are not treated properly, as they don;t receive benefits, or insurance if they have an accident. Also the rates have drop a lot since they started.

Passion for delivering friendly customer service (Former Employee) –  Sydney NSW26 June 2017
Expect to be working through peak traffic and to be given poor directions from the Deliveroo app. Some customers tip, often most don't. You can change what area you work in pretty easily e.g. going from eastern suburbs to inner west of Sydney.

Occasional tips

You have to pick up the food from the restaurant to the customer spending about 30 minutes. Skills to ride a bike or motorbike are important including a good English level to call to restaurants and customers.
Pros
Good support
Cons
You don´t have many hours per week

Bicycle Courier (Current Employee) –  Melbourne VIC16 February 2017
great psychic benefits, you are outside all day, you can talk to as many people as you want or you can go an entire day without really having to say a word. if you want heaps of money... probably better jobs out there.

Freelancing Photographer
Freelance Photographer (Former Employee) –  Melbourne VIC11 April 2016
The company books a date according to my availability throughout the week and assigns photoshoots to me based from the schedule. I will make my way down to the restaurant to shoot their main dishes and take the images home to edit. Within the same day, I will present the final edits to Deliveroo, who will in turn submit them to the clients.
Pros
Paid Travel and work at your own time
Cons
some miscommunications from management do happen
