Good company for internship

As a university intern, finding a company to accept you can be difficult, especially without experience. However, Deloitte has a dedicated program for people looking for an internship, and it has been a good experience for me. Their program structure is excellent, with a buddy and supervisor to guide you.

Management and partners are very one-minded and selfish. Very abusive and toxic work culture. Everyone is out for themselves and it feels like a target is on your back and people are watching your every step. You need to justify your time in 6-minute blocks. If you are unable to justify your time you will be reprimanded.

Although Delloite is a big corporate, Platform Engineering has quite a start-up feel. The people wear casual cloth while on the bench, the open-door policy is followed by everyone. Everyone no matter their position are approachable.

A typical day would involve working on an employees file in a variety of tasks from interviewing them to investigating a claim of underpayment. I developed my Excel skills significantly in this role, and learnt to work fast. The culture was young yet professional. The hardest part of the job was that it was a temporary contract position, and long work hours were expected. The thing I enjoyed the most at Deloitte was the people I worked with.

No Work/Life Balance. Bad People promoted as Managers

During my time at Deloitte, I didn't see even one good thing, that would motivate me to go back there. The rules and policies change every morning and staff are expected to know everything in 10 minutes. The Job culture is bad. They expect you to work double the hours, you get paid for. I will never suggest anyone go to Deloitte. There are other companies in the world.
