Very demanding role. Where your actual job is the lowest priority. Teaching staff come first. Students come second. parents/families come thirdSupport staff come forth Office staff bottom of the food job.

Supportive, cohesive, appreciative and collaborative workplace

Incredibly supportive and cohesive place to work with great consideration and appreciation placed on workforce and work load. Management understands the potential impacts of the job and provide ongoing understanding and support to provide good work/life balance. Would highly recommend as a place of work

Good pay

Hard to get a hold of over the phone and always stuffing up my pay. The pay is good and I will return once I arrive back home in Australia. Not many issues.

Wasn’t with them long enough to rate it, had to leave due to personal reasons. But from the time I was there wasn’t bad, close to public transport. Ok

Not enough pay

Teachers are underappreciated and over worked. The work is hard and hours can be quite long. You must have an absolute passion for teaching & working with children if you want to go into teaching.

Fun but big workload

Love my job but working all the time. When you can work out what needs to be done compared to what doesn’t, it is heaps more helpful and your time is used wisely

Ok sometimes

Tired, burnt out, feeling unsupported as does everyone currently. Good choice of location to work, decent holidays, some good people to work with. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone looking to make a difference like I was when I joined

Blood from a stone

The Dept, like the other systems will expect you to give them your entire 24 hours with little time to sleep. Their expectations will be unachievable and you will have no time for your own life experiences.

They will pretend to care about your wellbeing.

No support will be offered.

Well mannered and fair boss

Generally a pleasant place to work . The team get along well with each other and the workload is manageable. I would however like to be earning and working a little more .

A constructive competitive community with personal satisfaction

A typical day starts early with a smile on t=your face to stay focused for staff children and community interactions. I learnt that all children are individuals learning at different paces.Work place culture was competitive with other staff. The hardest part of the job was managing the relationships of an environment with mainly women.

Unprofessional and unsupportive environment where prolate put down and blamed rather than encouraged and supported.

Workplace bully is rife in the department of Ed. Some schools have pleasant facilities and staff and if you are lucky enough to find one than that will almost make the job possible. Increasing workloads, excessive paperwork and unnecessary assessments make this an unsustainable work place.

School holidays

Too much emotional labour and blame for students who are rude and disruptive

Working close home

Everything was well before 2011 but when it became independent school they start cutting budget and personal as a result more loads of jobs and more stress and more demanding and no support from The Department of Education.

You have to love this job

Highly complex with so many facets to manage. No 2 days the same. Increasingly bureaucratic with overwhelming amounts of paperwork. Lesson preparation time consuming and needs to be done efficiently and collaboratively to ensure some work life balance. Classroom management increasingly complex with more students with significant diagnosis in the mainstream and reduced funding for support personnel. It’s an incredibly challenging job ... you have to love the kids to love the job.

Don't work for the department of education!

Overwhelming paperwork stops you doing your job properly. Government policies and procedures are invented by people who never taught a day in their life. Government undervalues you and pay is low for the job you do. You work at home in your time A LOT. No time for a work/life balance. Ineffective people are often given leadership positions because they look good on paper.

The lovely students.

EVERYTHING bureaucratic, all policies and procedures. The government does not value or understand the needs of education.

A good beginning in teaching experience.

A very stressful work environment. Kids behaviour extremely ratty and sometimes unbearable , limited support if any from administration (principals and deputy principals etc). Education QLD will use every drop from you if you let them but when it comes to standing by you as an employee if you need help (sick leave or injured at work), they will drop and blame you, despite your teaching record or excellent service.

Good pay

Stressful, unsafe workplace. No back up from admin or head office.

Really productive and eager to solve problems.

The work environment was excellent. Colleagues happy and helpful. Management helpful, always making sure we could cope with our workload. Best job ever.

Poor management at time of being there

Some team members were ok others were only interested in their own goals not a collaborative environment. Needed a change of culture that they now have with new management

Amazing workplace

Great company to work for and keeping schools safe and making them look nice and clean for the community. Great to get out of the house to look for something to do.

Constant changing

There was a time I thought working for them was the best until they kept pulling their contacts. The Bonus was the best thing about the job and it was a family

Lay offs
