Stressful environment.
Ongoing Prison Supervisor (Current Employee) - Lara VIC - 22 April 2018
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedJob description of a Supervisor has changed over the last few years due to reforms ie Parole Board decisions after high profile media cases. Youth Justice also playing a large role in this and the high amount of Remandee's and Protection Prisoners incaserated. Due to this so many incidents of Self Harm, suicide, assault not just prisoner on prisoner but statt assaults also.
Pros
Ongoing work, this industry is never going to close.
Cons
Night Shift, Assaultative behaviour by inmates increasing. Less staff to deal with more prisoners.

Difficult work environment within a maximum security correctional facility
Justice Officer (VPS Grade 2) (Former Employee) - Lara VIC - 21 June 2017
Have spent previous two and a half years working in the Stores & Records wing of the Barwon Prison being a maximum security correctional facility. My position as a VPS2 employee offers little in the way of professional development and advancement. The work I performed in this role was onerous, labour intensive and not appropriately rewarded in respect of salary and conditions
Pros
Job Security
Cons
Long hours with little opportunity of professional development & advancement
