Take the small wins when you get them. The job itself is very rewarding and seeing that you are making a change is great feeling. It is a very fast paced environment, however, the team is great and very supportive.

Highly stressful and unappreciative workplace.

BEWARE! The smoothly written job ad will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling that you will make a difference and your work will have meaning. The reality will be that you will be under constant immense pressure and stress to achieve targets and outcomes for management, not the clients. Your focus will be 'stats' to achieve 'funding'... If you have gone to the trouble to educate yourself for a career in this field, don't waste your time with this department. It's a job that promises a lot but delivers nothing. The huge turnover of staff is an obvious giveaway. The culture is terrible and falls well short of the stated values of honesty, respect and integrity, particularly from management and head office. I don't recommend at all...

Inadequate or no supervision, management uncaring, and training ad-hoc.

Working nine to ten hour days normalised by management. Overworked staff, who were a fantastic team, however unrealistically high case loads and lack of helpful ongoing support.

Challenging role.

Being a case manager is definitely not for everyone as it is a very challenging role but has its benefits. You can see the positives impact you are having in peoples life.
