Worked for Downer in the Maintenance Dept over a number of years at BMA Blackwater and the corruption and nepotism from the Maintenance Management and their purple circle is disgusting. I don’t know how people aren’t in jail. The culture and morale suffers greatly because of it, in turn resulting in high absenteeism & staff turn over ultimately leading to a contractor dominated work force. I, like many others, finally had to draw a line in the sand and left.
What is the annual leave policy like at Downer Group? How many days of annual leave do you get per year?
It was pretty good, usually it was first in best dressed if a number of people put in for the same period of time off.
The culture at BMA Blackwater is terrible. Unfortunately it is mostly due to poor management and their inability to treat people like real people and show even a little bit of respect. You are just a number.
What would you suggest Downer Group management do to prevent employees from leaving?
I think scrutiny of the management and their ethics would straighten a fair bit of it out. Anonymous workforce surveys would probably get a few more honest answers as there wouldn’t be the fear of being targeted for speaking out.
