Very proffessional company
Electrical Foreman (Former Employee) - Wheatstone WA - 7 December 2019
Downer are very well organised and management were the best I've encountered in my career. They have systems in place that are industry leading. The work was challenging and rewarding and however, being a FIFO contract the work/life balance was most challenging (4 weeks on and 1 week off)

Trade Assistant Bluewaters Power Station (Current Employee) - Collie WA - 28 November 2019
Pre start, how the job is going, any questions or inquires and then given your job for the day.
Was given the opportunity to try new things and to make sure that we all went home at the end of shift to our families.
Everyone was great to be around and more than happy to give you advice and let you learn new things.

Good people to work with.
Shutdowns BHP (Current Employee) - Port Hedland WA - 28 October 2019
Good work culture , have not hammered us to much so work gets done in time required . If they push too much people leave . Usually good ones first as they have most options. So much work comming up in this sector ,they may need to create different options maybe allow flexability in which segment of the company personal can move too . Otherwise good people have to go to opposition which is dumb.
Pros
Good supervision
Cons
Poor camp logistics and food.

FIFO lifestyle & conditions are similar to other companies
Electrical Field Engineer (Current Employee) - Carrapateena South Australia - 4 October 2019
Dynamic fast paced role typical of mining construction projects. Seeing the project evolve and coming to life is very rewarding. Has the usual challenges & time constraints of remote sites.

my Work as water service man is to repair burst water main and service line. I’m really good with people I’m friendly and I work hard. Hardest part of work is when bosses keeps on changing shifts

Fast paced, time constraints and limited communication between team members. Poor management and organisation.
Accounts Payable Officer (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 9 September 2019
Think twice before you decide to work for this company where you meet up with lots of rude colleagues as they prefer to speak their own language rather than English.
It's a place where there is no time for morning greetings. There is limited communication between the workers and the company has poor management.

Very good team, worked great together to get great results
Warehouse Team Leader/Purchasing officer (Former Employee) - Acacia Ridge QLD - 1 August 2019
On average would arrive to set up and do quick stocktake and monitor emails and respond and action. would put in requisitions for stock and get early orders ready for customers to come in and pick up, no waiting. Workplace culture was great.

About 3 years late to the party
Administration Officer (Current Employee) - Sydney - 17 May 2018
While a lot of companies have already experimented with outsourcing to offshore contractors, realised it doesn't work, and brought the roles back into local offices - Downer is only just beginning this experiment and there is very little job security.
The office in North Ryde is basically the same as any other North Ryde/Macquarie Park office, the pay is around average, sothere is not much incentive that separates it from the many many other corporate jobs in the area. Accept that it is particularly slow, offers very little in the way of growth (both salary wise and personal development), and offers zero perks.
I would say it's good for someone looking for short time employment, but even then it's nothing special
Pros
Flexibility (though not all departments are flexible)
Cons
Unsecure; no development; slow moving; no perks/incentives

Working 60-80 hours per week and getting paid ok
Contractor (Former Employee) - Brisbane Central Business District QLD - 8 April 2018
My experience was below average but it was because of the nature of the role. A typical day was 8 am - 6 pm plus some work at home. Weekends typically 5-10 hours of work.
The manager was fly in and fly out manager and he did not have any intention to develop me.
The workplace was isolated from the company because of the nature of the role.
Hardest was to get criticised for things that were not my responsibility
One weekend day of free over 6 weeks was the only enjoyment.
