Casual and productive

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It is a casual work with a tight schedule. It is suitable for students who are looking for fixed income while completing your degree. It does not promote career growth

The company fell away once the old manager left the business

Getting all supervisors to agree on scheduled times for training and safety related meeting and issues. That made it very hard to get the message across to all the employees in a timely manner

Pros

Most of the guys were good to work for

Cons

New manager was hard to deal with.

Fly in fly out electrical contractors

Downers are Australia's largest electrical contractor. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Work is generally 10/12 hour days, 25 days on 10 days off. Great opportunity maintaining Australia's largest LNG plant. 30 plus years old plant so every day posed a challenge. Made many great friends. The long days and roster's were an obvious challenge, fatigue management was key. Made great friends and learned every day.

Pros

Constantly trained and educated.

Cons

Long work cycle.

downers christmas creekk wa

A week of day shift followed by a week of nights working amongst safety and procedure conscious people. A good blend of indigenous people working harmoniously amongst us. We work well as a team .Always keen to work and jumped at the chance to jump in a truck..Hot seating. Not much fun sitting in a crib waiting around so easier to get up and get on with the job.

Pros

safety concious

productive work place with great staff

I enjoyed my two times at Tenix, although both on contracts, as I found all the staff and management very helpful. I would have no hesitation if required, to rejoin this company.

Pros

Commercial construction experience Good solid management and supervisory staff Good guys to work with. Made the job a lot easier. The hot days were really hard but working with a good bunch of guys really made the difference.

Work

My everyday work would involve pre start meeting every morning to discuss relevant tasks throughout the day that would have to be carried out or completed. Im a fast learner and always driven to learn something new. I can well in a team environment and I'm a very easy person to get along with. I do thrive on working alone as well, as in some jobs/tasks, too many cooks can spoil the broth. The hardest part of the job is expecting nothing ever to be "perfect" but to thrive and make the best out any situation and do it the best I possibly can. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to develop amazing relationships you do with co-workers and being able to bounce ideas off each other is a key in this industry.

Pros

Support myself and my family

Cons

Hot weather

Great place to work

THE BEST COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH AND FOR Traveling from one end of the windfarm to the other, checking sings and garbage levels. Management and co-workers were all safety conceious at all times. HARDEST part of the job was working out what to do first out of daily items. Most enjoyable part of the job was ticking things off the default list.

Pros

being able to finish early when jobs were done.

Cons

long hours at times

Good Company to work for. Good Culture.

Have worked under BMA with Downer Mining. Downer keeps thing simple with a lot of discipline. BMA make a lot of changes to policies and over complicates matters. Over all I enjoy working in the mining industry I have done so with working for OEM,s and directly working for Contractors over most of my life.

One of those roles where you are do not always know what is going to happen next.

As a senior leader in HSE your role is one of responsibility and drive to implement ideas that at times might be from out the box to gain a buy in from all of our employees. It is a role that is heavily on behaviour and relationships to get the best out of all Downer employees.

Pros

Pride in that you are making a difference

Cons

Working away from family

Pros
