Top-heavy, unfocused and sorely lacking in cohesive vision
Network/DevOps Engineer (Current Employee) –  Waltham, MA13 December 2018
A private-equity owned, lay-off fueled, jargon machine.

The company has 5-10 senior employees (out of more than 500) holding the entire suite of products together.

I learned a great deal about how a poorly directed company can be led from the bottom, by talented DevOps teams, utilizing innovative automation techniques, with open source tools capable of adapting to every caprice of a purely sales driven management which lacks vision.

Dynatrace has a core culture amongst the Ops, Dev, and Support employees which runs almost counter to the stated mantra of executives. It is this culture that has kept the company afloat despite attempts by upper management to sink it through gross incompetence and inconsistent leadership directives.

Dynatrace's management has little idea of what they want to deliver, and even less idea of how to accomplish it. Fortunately, the R&D is capable of delivering what should be impossible because they love the battle of overcoming seemingly insurmountable financial obstacles with acts of technical heroism.

This review is personal opinion, reflecting only this reviewer's experience.
Pros
Cutting edge engineering principles done incognito
Cons
Inexperienced and/or non-technical management

Great co-workers, poor upper management with no direction
Insights Support (Former Employee) –  Home office based1 November 2018
Decent people to work with on a daily basis. Worked at a home office. Communication was good, but upper management has no direction and no way to evaluate it's employees.

Overall direction of the company is loosely planned with no clear direction. Possible layoffs to cut costs, then rehires at the same time.
Pros
Great people to work with
Cons
No clear company direction

Lack of focus
Customer Success Manager (Former Employee) –  Waltham, MA18 September 2018
Too many starts and stops here. They buy products or develop products and then drop them. Have everyone work from home and then complain no one is in the office. Lay whole teams off then figure out they cut too many people and try to get them back.
They do not have any bonuses or reviews of any type. You have no clue as to how you are doing in your job. The new employees coming in might have a better view of company but lack of direction is a problem here. Moving development and everything out of US.
Pros
Work from home
Cons
Upper management

Fun place to work
Software Development Manager (Former Employee) –  San Mateo, CA22 March 2018
Decent work/life balance, fair compensation. Pretty much entire Engineering has been moved to the East Coast, that is why I had to leave the company. Not a bad place to work.

Good products, poor management.
Software Engineer (Former Employee) –  Waltham, MA21 December 2017
Good products, hard to understand upper management direction. Nice place to work but always cost cutting. Job culture was good, direct management was good, technical direction seemed unfocused due to merging too many companies.

Fun place to work
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London5 October 2017
Management very much focused on Sales and every other department not important so lack of training and investment in staff. Opportunity to work from home and some great Leaders, but not very process driven and focus on essential staff lets the company down.

enterprise sales associate (Former Employee) –  Maidenhead26 October 2016
The pay is relatively decent for the job role. Co-workers are friendly but little emphasis on team building. One must force the issue but once you make yourself known that eases up a little. Learnt how to better build and manage my team as well as contract marketing campaigns and execute on them. Management support is constructive but difficult to establish any real development plan due to the nature of ownership of the business.

Exciting transition into the cloud APM market
Vice President, Strategic Business Development (Former Employee) –  Waltham, MA21 September 2016
Great place to learn about the challenges customers face delivering software. APM market, like most markets, is shifting towards supporting agile development, utility computing and dynamic workloads as companies determine the best balance between public cloud, private cloud and on premise implementations. With that are the challenges managing cultural shifts from traditional development methodologies to modern methodologies.

All in all, a great time to be in the space and APM is nicely positioned to add value through this shift.
Pros
great products, happy customers

Random Guy (Current Employee) –  Detroit, MI4 May 2016
Great co-workers, talented people. I've had some great upper management, and some not so great upper management. The company seems to have no clear direction - you're given a roadmap that becomes meaningless in a month's time. Seems to shoot themselves in the foot when they layoff people.

Great Talent/Poor Leadership
Corporate Sales Executive (Former Employee) –  Waltham, MA16 December 2015
Dynatrace has a great product, which is top of the line in their industry, along with very talented people working on the front line. Unfortunately I feel that the top of the company isn't leading the company in the right direction. Middle managers are great though!
Pros
Great potential, trying to create a fun environment.
Cons
Currently under ownership of a PE which creates tight expectations and a unstable environment.

Interesting
Contracts Administrator (Current Employee) –  Maidenhead, ENG17 November 2015
A very dynamic atmosphere with a lot of changes, not all of which positive. It is a young company with a lot of turnover. At times things could get very stressful in particular at quarter ends.
Pros
Free Parking
Cons
Insufficient communication
