Great people, high workload!
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 1 December 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedEML has a lot of great people and the culture is easy going, however the workload can be intense if you aren’t on top of everything. It helps to have a supportive team and team leader. The training process is way too long and majority of the content you learn is irrelevant to what you’re doing on an every day basis which is conflicting. A lot of people resigned within the training weeks because of the lack of support, communication and direction between training and working at the same time. I think reducing the workload and ensuring new employees have more in depth training in their own office rather than in class would help.

Unsupportive management and fake culture
Case Manager (Current Employee) - Chatswood NSW - 3 December 2023
Boasts a good workplace culture but is nothing but superficial niceties excluding a few individuals working within the company. Claims to care about employees but doesn't.

Good culture
Case manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 26 November 2023
High workload and your experience/time with EML all depends on your team and leader. Often teams are dependent on each other to get their tasks completed, having a good team has really helped.

Rating This Employer 1 Star - An Overwhelming Workload and Lack of Support
Case Manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 27 October 2023
The primary issue revolves around an overwhelming workload that is simply unmanageable for one person. It's a workload that equates to the responsibilities of two individuals. This has led to a situation where many individuals regularly find themselves in a state of despair, with some even breaking down or resigning from their positions. One of the most concerning aspects is the apparent lack of diversity in management's career experiences. Their inability to see beyond the current model and refusal to adjust the workload to a more manageable level Overall, my experience with this employer has been marked by stress, burnout, and a lack of support.

Micromanagement and low pay
Adminstration Assistant (Former Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 4 October 2023
There was much micromanagement. Managers were frequently calling during tasks, creating unnecessary interruptions and hindering productivity. Moreover, the company organised team events during lunch breaks, which, unfortunately, were unpaid. However, what stands out the most is the gaslighting behavior exhibited by the management team. They encouraged open communication when issues arose but then brushed them off and even mocked employees who dared to speak up. Lastly, the low pay was a significant disappointment. People regularly left the job. I don’t recommend.
Pros
Made nice friends
Cons
Low pay

Too Much Micromanagement
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 21 September 2023
I originally worked EML in 2012/2013. I returned in 2022 and was hugely dismayed to find that the workplace culture had completely changed. Micromanagement is rampant. As well as constant meetings over Teams that could have just been an email.

Overworked and underpaid
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 28 July 2023
The workload is insanely high and management do nothing to help you out. There are not enough hours in the work day to complete all tasks without working overtime (which you don’t get paid for). Rewarded with “pizza parties”.
Pros
Hour lunch break
Cons
Ridiculous expectations

Great party culture, no support
CASE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (Former Employee) - Sydney Central Business District NSW - 18 April 2023
Very difficult to ascertain where it is you stand with this company. You want to do your best, but need to really ask yourself why it is you want to do this role, and is it for the reasons that align with EML's TRUE values

Could do better
Senior Case Manager (Current Employee) - NSW - 10 April 2023
Would suggest salary is better than others in industry however be prepared to work long hours, while overtime is not requested or suggested outright to meet expectations it occurs. Portfolios are not balanced in numbers, maturity of claims or by merit of complexity, so you can often find you are on an uneven playing field in your team. Team size will also influence the level of support you have access to, a larger team has more peer support opportunity. Team Leaders do try to be as supportive as possible, however work load and meetings seem to be a barrier. There are support teams however they seem disconnected from the true demands of roles in a day to day practical sense. Systems are not reliable and do not meet the demands of the role for efficiency and compliance.
Pros
RDOs, if you can take them.
Cons
No genuine work life balance, burn out risk.

Task Orientated and Customer Service
Case Manager (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 22 February 2023
EML as an organisation is great, lots of support and upskilling available. If you enjoy customer care and being very task orientated, meaning can sit a long time and complete tasks/actions which can get very repetitive even when they're not the same. Communicating with injured workers can be draining, as a good number seem to believe you're only dealing with their claim and not a multitude of others. Injured workers can get aggressive/rude however if you can not take it personally you're set. On the other end you really get to learn the work insurance industry and understand how you can support injured workers to what WorkSafe allows.

Collaborative and supportive workplace
Covid Claims Assessor (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 15 January 2023
I loved the people and the work culture. I understood the tasks that were required. Unfortunately, I had a temp contract so I had to leave but looking forward to going back.
Pros
Free lunches, supportive staff, team environment
Cons
None

Worse employer to date
Service Manager (Former Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 8 January 2023
Treated like a child in a very non-flexible work environment. All staff are micromanaged and unable to think for themselves and management were confusing with direction . I regret working here.

Workload excessive, lots of toxic teams,
Claims Management Trainee (Former Employee) - Newcastle NSW - 27 December 2022
A horrible place to work in the long term, unless you learn quickly and make sure you take notes so you know what to do. Call on the people who are part of your team regarding technical, legal and medical.
Pros
Good salary
Cons
Workload intense and unforgiving

Amazing company driving a positive culture within the industry
Case Manager (Current Employee) - EML - 5 September 2022
I have been at EML for over three years now. Throughout the years they have supported my professional growth, challenged me to step outside of comfort zone and work on areas I haven't before. It was a little uncomfortable at times, but jeez I am so glad they saw the potential in me, as I couldn't see it in myself. So grateful for being part of an organisation that truly cares and rewards your hard work. Great work life balance, and plenty of internal opportunities for you to grow if you put your heart into it.

Best workplace culture
Claims Advisor (Former Employee) - Paramatta NSW - 28 July 2022
EML was one of the best employers I have ever worked for. The teams and management are full of support and care about you and it really felt like a family. While the workload and processes seemed daunting at first, it got much smoother overtime, mostly due to the fact that you had your team and managers to support you along the way. It will only feel like you are being micromanaged if you let it feel like that. They do have fortnightly performance reviews, but they don't just sit there and tell you to do better, they'll offer their help to assist you in getting there. I highly recommend anyone who genuinely enjoys getting people to give EML a go. I promise you won't ever regret your decision.
Pros
Supportive Work Culture, Mid and end of year parties, team dinners, great renumeration opportunities, superb work/life balance, flexible work scheduling
Cons
Sometimes monotonous workload, sometimes emotionally stressful

Company trying to pushing staff to the office
Case Manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 4 April 2022
The company was great to start with. A nice friendly atmosphere with great support. However, there has been more micromanagement and more work piled onto us as the months went by. I felt quite overworked. The company is also pushing us to work in the office, with more days in the office becoming mandatory.

Horrible
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 1 January 2022
Terrible the way people are treated. Next to no in-house training, jobs with no real background, very clique and not nice if you're not one of the in group. Sad the way they expect us to treat claimants.
Pros
Free lunch and home time
Cons
No support
