If you want a toxic environment with gossip, work politics and fake snarky people who pretend to be good to your face go here , never felt so burned out and traumatised by a job also the worst micromanagement I’ve ever seen

stressful

bullying culture. In technology team, people close to leadership bully people to do work so that they can take credit. Lot of talented people left. Too stressful.

Run as fast as you can.

The new managers are atrocious, unless your in with the clique of managers, you will get nowhere. They hold you to their behaviours and values, yet don’t stand by them themselves. They talk about confidential information with their other manager friends, and unless you ‘play the game’ your not going to last. They would rather keep people that get feedback every day for not doing their job correctly after 7 years, than someone that speaks up, makes a bit of noise, and has respect for themselves. They also show no loyalty whatsoever, making people redundant that have been there for years, over people that have only just been hired externally. No loyalty at all, and don’t hold their own heads up to their behaviours and values - RUN

Pros

Used to be Free lunches - but not since they had food poisoning

Cons

Geelong management - just a certain few.

Hot and young front of the line

Managed by young, power types. Looks are very important, if you're young and good looking you'll get opportunities and promoted easier. The working role was challenged by poor escalation processes.

Pros

You're employed at least

Cons

introvert? you'll have a tougher time

Some of the management team are amazing and really look out for you, however the rest will treat you like rubbish

The workplace culture if again you meet the right people great, otherwise it is very much a click and you have to be in the right crowd to get anywhere

Pros

used to be the bonuses but they took those away

Cons

long hours, not willing to compromise on hours or times

Best work place!

Not to sounds bias, this company is by far the best company I have worked for. The support and inclusiveness it provides for its employees are amazing. The executive to leaders have a clear vision and are very supportive and active in capability uplift internally. They look after who they have by providing knowledge sessions, career growth with study opportunities. Stakeholders from across various business units are a pleasure to deal with. Very flexible, casual, you can be yourself it's all about outcomes. Great rewards & recognition program. Increase in new technology adoption by using on-trend software and hardware. Great work location or work from home. Strong focus on health and well being.

Pros

Flexibility, People, Supportive

Cons

None

Dog eat Dog

A typical energy company that is more worried about income than people. The middle management are young and want to progress through the ranks. Don't really care how they do it. But the money was good!

Pros

Salary

Cons

Management

Highly recommended working here

Working as a casual on a semi regular basis has been quite good for the wallet. The only drawback is the long hours and sometimes lack of consistency. One moment is busy as and the next you are scratching ya butt. That said, the coin is definately worth it.

Pros

Dollars

Cons

Hours

Senior Business Program manager

EA is a fabulous place to work with a huge variety of projects to deliver from Regulatory, Business and technology streams. Opportunities to understand the utilities sector definately exist.

Poor Culture and direction

I joined for a newly created role- 8 months later my two mangers left, the company announced a loss and over 200 positions were made redundant- including mine just before Christmas. This company is going through crisis management with lots of people protecting their backsides. Not a great place with many worried about their future as more will go.

Great work place culture

EnergyAustralia is a great organisation to work for. They're CEO communicates clear direction on where the company is heading to all employees. She encourages gender equality and is leading the organisation to success. EnergyAustralia has a great working culture. I really enjoyed working there.

Rigging

Working in the power industry is not for everyone , its loud, dangerous and dirty. there are a lot of dark places and security is very high. to get work in the power industry you need flexibility.

Fair place to work

How do you get blood out of a stone? Some times it appeared to be this difficult to get things done. Management has seen significant change and culture has suffered due to this.

Pros

Annual Bonus program

Cons

Long hours

Easy going and great teams willing to assist

Great people and a supportive environment to begin with, training was spot on and EA continued to invest greatly in the training side of things during my time there. We all remained in the one team after our initial training was completed and had a supportive and knowledgeable team manager, upon completion of the second part of our training approx 4 months later the team was divided and then things got real, the job was no longer about resolving issues but more about hand balling them along and hoping the customer would go away. The systems used were clunky and not user friendly, and prone to freezing and very cumbersome to use. Team members were great though and support readily available when required. The tier two team managers had no industry experience like our initial tier 1 team manager had so she remained the go to person for most. Would recommend EA to others as the good outweigh the bad.

Pros

Great People, Training, Food Days

Cons

Systems, High Bills, Lacking ownership of issues
